What should i reply?

What should i reply? When "pretentious" experts ask me what my major is:

Me: Im in BA English maam.

Her: *raises eyebrow* why arent you in education

Me: *mentally confused... * Maam?
Her: Your course is a dead end, it has no direction
Me: *Mentally thinks but decides to not reply for the sake of respect, smiles instead*

Her: Think about it

Me: *Just smiles*

But I like english and I dont want to exclusively teach. Im interested in the way people speak, how they learn a first or second language. English Majoring education doesnt really tackle that. We always do plays- it seriously helped my self esteem and i had fun...
I was really offended i mean? If i would have not liked my major, i would have taken Education.

Hey guys! this is random but i really want to ask the native english speakers. So i am not native english speaker and i'm still learning to speak english. I want to ask did you guys used " u , ur," instead of "you , you're"? My friend he is non native speaker but he major in English. He said to me if i write "you, you're" when texting native speakers will find me as a very formal person. Is this true? He asked me to write "u, ur" instead. Thanks in advance! 😊

As someone who majored in music, fuck em. It's your life, and you should study what interests you. And your actual degree doesn't need to be in something specific to end up working in that field.

Like my education was voice performance in undergrad and I ended up going to law school. Lol

he is partly right. but using text speak to a person that is not close to you (friend, family etc) would mean also that you are childish and irresponsible.

its better if you use formality to people you are not close with.
