the trends in korea tend to be things that were popular in america 6+ years ago and its one of the reasons why it will never be popular in the west. 

 

most of BTS songs sound like old knife party tracks. also, dnb seems to be popular lately but its considered outdated in the west.

Yep. I remember Super Junior-M released a dubstep track...in 2013.

You can see the lag in the Western songs Kpop groups choose to cover; almost none of them are current, they're all at least a year behind. It's getting better though which reflects how new Kpop has been catching up with Western trends as well.
