Did anyone ever transfer schools while in middle/high school?

How was your experience transitioning? Were you able to find friends immediately? Did you try to be a different person from who you were in your previous school? Was it a public or private school?

I transferred to a private school in 10th grade. Instead of us going to classes, the teacher would go to our room instead (just like how you see in anime) so I was able to find friends quickly. I spoke less in my new school but a lot when i'm just with my friends, but overall it was a easy transition since everyone was nice.

I did in high school and it was horrendous! I felt completely out of place and developed depression and insomnia to the point where I just stopped going to high school and completely dropped out.

I went from being a student at a fairly small high school to attending a high school that had 3,000 students and that was within a year of coming to this country and not knowing the language that well.

I've transferred high schools three times. Every time I transfer schools, I get less motivated to make friends. Literally went to a school for 3 months and did not make any friends, I did not give a FUCK! All the schools I've gone to were public schools. I've always wanted to go to a private school, don't really know why. The current school that I go to I've made a lot of friends somehow... I guess that's what happens when you chill out. I'm pretty socially anxious, but once I learned to stop giving a fuck, I could talk to new people with ease.

I'm bored of this school now but I can't leave. And before you assume, no, I'm not a delinquent.

I transfered high schools after the 1st year. I had already made friends at the new school I was transfering to and some of my old friends from middle school attended it too so the transition was pretty easy for me. Actually the main reason for my transfer was exactly because of said friends, I didn't have an easy time making friends at my first high school, but also I was interested in the special art classes the other school offered (it was a high school focused on art studies). Both schools were public schools (private schools are basically nonexistent in my country actually).

I did in high school and I also had just moved to another city so it was a nighmare at first. It took me almost a year to find my *squad* but it was pretty fine after then. (I wasn't as fucked as I'm mentally now so that's probably the reason why I even got to talk to people)

I transferred to a new high school (public) for freshman year and it was horrible. I had no clue how to make new friends since I was at my old school since kindergarten, so for the 3 months I was there I didn't make any friends because I was so shy and socially awkward. I finally ended up switching to online classes and I don't regret it at all

not in middle and high school but in elementary school. I transferred to a new elementary school in first grade after my parents got divorced and my mom moved far away from my dad, then to a new elementary school in 4th grade when my mom got a new job in a different county from where we were previously living, then to a new elementary school in 5th grade since we moved to a different apartment in a different city, then to a new elementary school during the later half of my 6th grade year when my mom finally bought a house (again in a different city, and also her new work location was farther from where our apartment was).

I was able to make new friends immediately in 1st and 4th grade but not in 5th and 6th grade, because the kids at the school I attended during 5th grade were complete assholes (not to mention racists) and in 6th grade everyone seemed to have already formed their little group of friends.

i transferred from a regular public school to a magnet high school in 7th grade

i really didn't want to bc i was scared about making friends but it was prob one of the best things i could've done bc the workload challenged me (my previous school was easy af) and i made some really good friends that i still contact to this day

I'm going to give some background before I answer your questions. Heres a brief explaination of it elementry (k-3 in NC) to elementry (4th, in italy) > 5th grade (NC) > 6-7th (Georgia) > 8-9 (MD) > 10th (GA) > 11th & 12th (Japan). And I'm going to anser your question on the most recent transition (MD to GA)

How was your experience transitioning? School wise, it was rocky. I didn't get my classes that I truly wanted and I had to change schedules about 5 times to get them.

Were you able to find friends immediately? Kind of. Lucky enough someone I knew from middle school was in one of my classes and I made friends with her friend group and some 9th graders

Did you try to be a different person from who you were in your previous school? Oh definitely.

Was it a public or private school? Public so my experience isn't very similar to yours. :(

My general advice is make friends with one person and make friends with their friends, and find a good group of friends in each of your classes so you have a group of people to go to in case of group friends

I transferred a few times

after 3rd grade I went to another elementary

in the middle of 6th grade I went to another middle school, then before 7th grade I went to 3rd middle school

after 11th grade I moved to another school, then after 1 month I transferred back to my original High School, that bit was embarrassing

I'll say I made friends very quickly (except for High School, that school literally had only 24 seniors in the entire school), in every school my friends-to-be approached me, I suppose I have a very friendly vibe
