Do you think community colleges are bad?

i don't think they're that bad

honestly some people choose to go to a cc then transfer into a university bc it's cheaper that way and i kind of wish i had that option but i didn't lmao

as for the actual people, maybe some of them aren't the brightest but some of them can be just as smart as people going to a 4-year uni/college

In Canada we have really good CC's and some even offer BS degrees. After obtaining my BS degree at UofT i started a co-op program at a CC and i personally love it so far. I love the fact that you get more hand on in CC than at Uni cuz you actually get an idea of what your major is like. I believe CC's are underrated and the students are unfairly looked down upon

uh no??? Community college is great for getting the general education classes out of the way because classes are cheaper there. Being a community college transfer student is the sole reason why I don't have any student debt after graduating from university. The professors at community college are also just as of good quality as university professors. Some of the professors at my CC have even taught at universities. Also just because someone goes to a CC doesn't mean they were an underachieving student in high school. Again, some people just choose to go to CC first because it's cheaper than going to a 4 year and wasting thousands of dollars on irrelevant general ed classes when you could be solely focusing on your degree classes instead.

No, just because you go to a Community doesn't mean you're a screw up.

I went to community college and it saved me money and I was able to get my Associates and transfer to a 4 year college. Also its really no difference between the professors whether good or bad.

Nope. I wouldn't want to attend one, but they're really good.

One CC in my city has a special program where people can go into into a really good and pretty competitive school after their first two years. That way, you'd be saving a bunch of moolah.

my friend who went to one applied for a bunch of scholarships for CC and by the end of two years, she paid nothing out of pocket and actually gained $400.

goals.

CC's offer a lot of options. The biggest would probably have to be the cost as it is much much cheaper than a regular Uni.

Almost anyone will be accepted and can attend. Plus, it's there if someone wants to pick up a life skill or curious about a subject, but doesn't want to pay thousands of dollars for a single class. In fact, community colleges have some of the most outlandish or bizarre classes.

I feel like most of the kids there are screwups.

I take offense to that. As someone who went to community college I really disagree. It all depends on the college that you go to, and what you can afford. I went to CC because I knew I wanted to get a degree but I did not know what to major and focus on. I explored different classes, met some amazing professors and actually liked going to school.

Interestingly enough I had more drive and determination in CC than I do now in a 4 year college. I lost any interest and determination that I had and I've just been passing on my classes without putting much effort. What I also liked about my CC is that the classes were fairly small and the professors actually took their time to get to know their individual students. I still keep in touch with some of my former professors because we developed sort of a friendship.

Not at all. I go to CC because of how cheap it is. See I don't get financial aid because we make too much. If I did all 4 years at a uni I'd be buried in debt, especially since I'm transferring into a private school

i don't think so. my brother went to a CC and he wasn't a screw up. he had to go because we literally could not afford any other higher education institution and it was the only way he could make above retail. don't make such hash judgments about something you know nothing about. this one girl rode her bike for an hour every day to get to that CC... don't assume they're all people who screwed around in HS. they are going to school for the purpose of receiving an education and furthering their life and improving their life. why would you look down on them for that?

Not everyone can afford 50k in tuition, Becky.

Not at all. I wish I did my prereqs in a community college. It would've been less expensive. I went to a state school and a lot of my peers transferred into the program from a cc. I didn't see any discrepancies between the university students and cc ones.

no...i did one year at a CC then transferred to a 4 year university but i regret not finished all be baccalaureate experience classes first before transferring honestly. i should've done 2 years at home and 2 years away instead of 1 at home and 3 away.

Nope. I actually liked the idea of going to a cc first and finding out where you want to go and what you want to study. I feel like its the best time for exploration and its not as expensive as a university. I now kinda regret not doing that because I'm about to go into 6th year in the university that I'm not that happy with.
