The "useless" members

So I've been thinking, which really hurts, btw.

For the vocalists, the dancers, and the rappers, their purposes are obvious. For the others, it wasn't so obvious to me, until I watched Twice perform Signal. These "useless" members aren't the pre-determined visual, or rapper, or dancer but they are the relatable idol, the upbeat member, the variety star, the girl/boy next door types.

These are the members who sell songs like Signal. Not even a great voice can save a garbage song but think about how much fun you have at karaoke/parties/in your room, screaming out the songs that are so bad that they're good.

These members try to make fans have fun and forget about how crummy a song is. The song is not going to get better, so they have to reel the audience in with something. It's like when your little sibling/cousin/child draws you a picture and it's just a blob of color but you still...appreciate it.

So, since live stages are a major component of Kpop, maybe these people are quite valuable and irreplaceable to the group? I mean, if its painful for us to listen to, imagine how it feels to have to sing it day after day after day after day to make a living.

Or maybe I've been drinking the kool-aid and need a detox. Anyone know a good rehab center?

though Momo doesn't have to sell me anything, I'd take high concentrations of carbon monoxide if she said it was good for me. wait, that makes me a dumbarse

and no, this thread isn't secretly a promote Momo thread 7.gif...

Putting Twice and Signal aside (It's a good song for me) there is no reason for a company to debut "useless" members. It's all business and there are countless amounts of money and time spent on deciding who gets to debut and who doesn't. If someone was truly useless they would drop out of the group pretty damn fast.

You have idols who have talent for singing, rapping, dancing, composing etc who bring the most into their music.

Then you have idols who have stan attractor qualities like visuals, variety sense, good at mc:ing and fanservice etc who bring the groups personality.

Of course many idols fit into both categories but just because some members especially in a big group aren't the best at singing or dancing doesn't mean they are useless it's just there's some other areas where their value for the whole comes to surface. That's the main difference between singers/bands and idols.

no lol

idgi

people call members "useless" but there are abilities relevant to making a Kpop grp successful other than singing/rapping and dancing. even though I can't see a dance or visual on a cd, we have to admit that Kpop is about more than just making albums. it's why I put useless in quotes.

So K-Pop is also about how to make someone who doesn't likes the song , like it ????

Wow I learn something new everyday lol

Well, it is a business. Any type of marketing is about providing customers with services that they need, want or convincing them of a product's usefulness-but I didn't say like the song, I'm talking about enjoying something even if it's pretty bad
