'Mayday' explained

For past few days there are pros and cons about April new release Mayday. 

 

 

 

For styling, not like their past singles, this time each member have distinctive image.

Why distinctive image ?

For people who already know them as a group, it's a chance to know the contrast of each member. Because there's always sceptical opinion like - 'they all look similar', 'I can't tell who is who' - for group that is using uniform outfit. Distinctive image with different outfit make them easily recognizable.

 

For people who know them for the first time, they can stan one member they like as starter. It's easier to stan one than the whole, isn't it? It's a good way to attract potential fans. 

 

It's also foreshadowing for their future individual activity (maybe). Looks like DSP will push their individual activity more. But I have a positive thinking that they will make their own wave that is different from current mainstream.

 

 

For music, I can't tell since the genre is different. Some people said 'good', some said 'not good'. Majority who said good are actually watched April Story and like it. Well, agree that April Story is one wonder masterpiece. Dance-wise and music-wise can't be more perfect than this. But doing same concept over and over will have a bad impact when later they change the concept (look at G-friend). I hope looking for acceptance with different concept in early game can help them survive longer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

For choreography, mayday is using easier motion and adding comical act in hope people will follow the catchy song with easy dance move. Well I don't know how to express it since the choreography need to follow the music, isn't it?  April Story choreography are made to be masterpiece of art following the song itself. Mayday choreography are made to be easy to digest by public. So, the purpose itself are different.
