Lucky with a new cover. Despite the inactivity, she has improved!

With the current news, I'm glad the companies didn't allow man and woman interactions in The Unit.

No wonder so many of these rookie groups were willing to go on the Unit.

For clarity, Pledis turned Pristin into a train wreck. Weki Meki isn't doing that great either. Dreacatcher is the only group out of this 2017 bunch that has been promoting consistently with some success.

We can even give credit to some of these groups like Elris, Greyish, HUB and SIS for at least trying to promote. That's more than you can say for Good Day and Pristin. Sad to see so many talented ladies wasting the best time of their careers because their companies are letting them down or they aren't being acknowledged by the public.

My theory was that kpop fandoms were not ready for new groups in 2017. People were still holding on. But with so many groups disbanding and that 2014 and 2015 class heading into 4 and 3 years respectively, people became open to new talent. Of course it doesn't hurt that alot of the 2018 and 2019 talent was and is coming from bigger named companies.

The rookies of 2018 like (G)I-dle, Loona, Fromis9, Izone, and of 2019 like Itzy are getting so much more love than those girls in 2017. The big outlier for 2017 is Pristin of course. Had Pledis not screwed them over they would be on the same level or higher than the popular rooks of 2018 and 2019.

At any rate, I hope at least one of those 2017 groups breaks out this year.

Loona did consist promotion since 2017 (start in november 2016), adding new member one after one, releasing single albums and sub-unit albums. A good way to recruit and waiting for the younger to be ready.

Dreamcatcher is a reboot of Minx, active since 2014, they just added 2 members.

And it's sad to not see Matilda around either.

Oddly enough, Loona's pre-debut music is not really counted. So as a full group they are 2018 rookies.

I avoided that technicality with Dreamcatcher. It would be nice to have at least one group from the 2017 class be successful.

I wouldn't be surprised if Matilda disbanded soon.

I wish the Unit had been a better boost for some of these groups. But like I said, at least groups like HUB, SIS and Grayish to name a few are out there working. Better to be a low level group and actually bringing in some income than a low level group doing nothing at all.
