Idk what to believe and the whole war seems fishy to be fairly honest or perhaps Media exaggeration. they make it come off as if there is battlions of rebels in the thousands.

Anyone from Philippines care to elaborate and explain? If anything I took it as couple of Gunmen but the media said otherwise? That is just my opinion for now but will like to hear from someone whos from philippines

Looks pretty serious. My best friend's aunt was taken under hostage but she's been released now, along with many others.

I did some research and it seems like Duarte got some Money after visiting Russia to go after Abu Sayyaf leader Isnilon Hapilon but he got shielded by his men and it escalated but it seems like Abu Sayyaf was not interested in Duarte and vice versa but someone foreign was interested in Abu Sayyaf's leader who have 5miillon usd on him. Duarte commited mistake as he could turn the place into hotspot and loyalists could arrive in waves to assist

An islamic terrorist group in the Philippines called "Maute Group" abducted one of the most prominent cities in the island of Mindanao. They burned Catholic churches and killed the Christians who refuse to change their religions into Islam. They killed those who went against them to the point where they put human heads in the road for others to see. They also flashed flags of ISIS which made everyone think it was ISIS doing the terrorism however the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) said that its only the local group Maute and not ISIS. President Duterte proclaimed Martial Law in Mindanao and had the Philippine troops fight the terrorists there. President Duterte soon announced that ISIS is already present.

Thanks for the info. I don't really live in the PH or pay attention to its politics anymore so this was helpful.

What is the difference between maute and abu sayyaf?

As for what you said after I did research it dosen't seem like they were interested in fellow filipinos rather foreign places like Syria because it don't make sense them just having such a large reserve manpower there unless they were shipping them

Both are different terrorist groups I suppose. But it has been reported that other terrorist groups also backed up Maute but I dont know if it also includes Abu Sayyaf.

Like they've all mentioned the Maute group, an ISIS affiliated group, has taken over Marawi. (You don't really need to be directly connected to ISIS's core group to be considered part of them, Maute has the same ideologies and such as ISIS so ISIS is taking responsibility and acknowledging them)

People who can't prove that they're Muslim are being killed. Even Muslims who were overwhelmed with fright werent able to recite the Quran and we're therefore killed.

It's chaos over there now and so far there have been more than a hundred deaths, 30 of which are soldiers and the rest are civilians

Never believe anything you read from INTERNATIONAL media, they twists and quote news and don't do full coverage there. If you wanna know whats truly happening, you can visit local media outlets, go check the COMMENT section, not the article written itself. You will know MORE of TRULY what is happening by reading comments than listening to bias media.

In brief, I want to say what is happening there. Marawi has been attacked by a local TERRORIST group known as MAUTE GROUP. Remember they are not ISIS related, they just use ISIS and ISIS flag to cause fear, confusion among Filipinos and gain sympathy and recognition from ISIS. There are rumors circulating that these MAUTE group are being backed by big politicians that are anti-duterte government and drug leaders who's businesses have been wiped out since duterte rise from presidency. Martial Law was declared to Marawi and All Mindanao to suppressed the widespread violence of Maute group. The government troops, a batallion of them were sent to Marawi to combat Maute and is also spread to whole Mindanao to secure the whole archipelago. As of the latest I know, aroun 60+ Maute groups have been killed and around 40+ civilians were killed due to war/or Maute killed them. There were reports of kidnappings and hostages, the government has performed airstrikes and has controlled the city of Marawi. Still, the combat is on going. Hopefully it will be over soon and wont spread outside Marawi.

And to that to that. EVERYONE in MINDANAO supports DUTERTE's actions and DECLARATION of MARTIAL LAW. Only those VERY FEW anti/opposotion are making soo out of it, most are not even from Mindanao, they are from LUZON which is very far from the war archipelago.

Your research and information was wrong. Duterte went to Russia to buy arms/armaments and sorts aside from the other agendas they have as two countries want to collaborate with each other, its not simply as Duterte went to Russia to get Money, LOL.
