We asked a bunch of young Americans how student debt impacts their lives. Their responses were devastating.

Education should be considered a basic fundamental right. Primary education should be free and higher education should be run at a minimum cost, basically at a no profit-no loss basis by the government. Some will argue that it will compromise the quality of education however, free education won't necessarily mean the death of the merit system. Merit over privilege any day.

But who are we kidding, our governments are run by corporations who have huge stakes in the commercialization of the education sector.

For me it's hard to imagine having a student debt and then also having to pay mortgage and stuff. I could never tbh. Mortgage is enough for me. Our school system is completely free of charge from elementary school to college, although the quality of the schools could be higher.(teachers are heavily underpaid). I know some poeple would sometimes rather pay for quality, but not everyone is that fortunate, so I think this is the better solution.

The US Government could change its priorities and instead of using tax money for wars, military, 800 military bases, etc they could spend it on its own citizens instead but of course the people who need an education the most are against "free" education.

So where's the money coming from to make college "free" ? From cutting our spendings on the military and reallocating that money to "better" areas.
