Article: iKON struggles on the charts again... unexpected from 'digital powerhouse YG'

Source: Sports Donga via Naver

1. [+1,431, -162] ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ The journalist attacking with the facts

2. [+1,139, -123] Very accurate analysis by the journalist

3. [+991, -150] If your song is good, even singers like MC Mong will win #1. Fact is, iKON's song sucks.

4. [+990, -193] Honestly, iKON's song sucks to the point where if they didn't have YG's name under them, it would've fallen off the charts already.

5. [+432, -22] All the iKON fans saying this is troll bait... I've been a fan of iKON since their trainee days and I can prove it if I have to but I honestly think articles like this are good in the long run because it gives a cold, hard look at what's going on. The fact that iKON's music video views are high and they're #1 on iTunes but suffering such poor results on the Korean charts just means that Yang Hyun Suk and YG think absolutely little of their Korean fans. It's a very bad business strategy. The article is completely right. They had a year and a half of positive spotlight they could've used to get their name out there but instead they threw Korea to the backburner and promoted in Japan the whole time. If they thought they could ignore Korea and come back to win trophies again, they severely misunderstood ã…‹ã…‹ why? Because iKON is not Big Bang, and iKON is still a rookie group. How can you expect fans to stay and wait while giving them nothing in return?

6. [+764, -158] Their bubble is bursting, that's all

7. [+408, -40] The article expresses in words what I was thinking while listening to their song. Their poor performance on the charts has more to do with the song being bad moreso than their fandom collapsing. Winner suffered a pretty big fandom collapse as well... I totally agree that the song only has a beat and no melody. The song would've done fine if there was more of a melody during the vocal parts, or at least focus more on the quality of the beats or the lyrics if they wanted the song to be rap-focused.

8. [+421, -50] You can tell by comparison why Winner's 'Really Really' is the best they've done since debut. It's basically a difference in what the public prefers more.

9. [+296, -9] Winner suffered just as big of a fandom collapse as iKON, you can tell by the album sales... Honestly, you can tell what YG was thinking because this whole time they were promoting iKON in Japan with just one album and now that they can't milk it anymore, they throw out two songs as singles in Korea... Too bad the songs suck and they're not even fresh. I had to turn off the music video after a few seconds too. YG really needs to learn from this.

10. [+421, -52] I know this article probably hurts for their fans but you can't deny it... their song is just bad.

people saying they flopped due to being gone so long is bullshit ,winner was gone just as long if not longer and did great so do most YG acts.

A fanbase is physicals , digital are public.

WINNER lost both their k fandom and j fandom. Well, can't help it. They were not doing anything in 2015..

Conclusion: It happened to WINNER and because YG will never learn, it happened again to iKON. And if two mistakes happened over and over again, you know who to blame.

#everyoneknows who is it to blame and it's yg  ohpressor.png

but what is amazing to me is that yg stans are only now waking up. when winner underperformed last year yall just told us to shut up and stop "whining". or when we boycotted that dvd because we wanted a comeback, yall said to suck it up "all yg groups have long hiatuses". but who's crying now?  smile.png

I don't really know Ikon or their music much. I didn't even listen to their new singles but I blame YGE. They were gone to long. They didn't even need to be in Japan. They needed to focus in the Korean Market bc they were or kind of are still 'new'. Hopefully YGE doesn't throw them under the bus and have them promote/release more music.

This ^^

Coming back against too many digital monsters such as Twice and Psy is not really a good idea

I am a Carat

I knew iKON must rule the charts before releases, but they chart worse than SVT???

I mean SVT's digital is decent, the fact that they chart lower than SVT is a warning

Consider iKON sweeps 2015 rookies award and ikonics,YG stans are proud of themselves, but now,SVT wins over iKON in all areas,YG should think of some ways on how to boast iKON's digital in next comeback

are you kidding? their fanbase is only a shadow of their fanbase from win/debut. i've been a fan since win, you don't know how many of my friends left the fandom. they stan groups like svt, bts or monsta x now. even last year when their hiatus was longer, they sold more physicals on gaon. they're doing OK but they could be doing a lot better

maybe winner fans were just more dedicated and organized this time around? i don't know any incle who didn't buy the physical albums

its bullshit to say their fanbase was bigger during debut yet didnt sell as much as their recent album, who cares if people left new people joined.

They are doing more then ok, one member left a huge break and its their best selling album.

yea I'm confused at the comments acting as if winner's fanbase didn't take a hit (and a hard one at that) esp with the hiatus they took after their debut? are ppl conveniently forgetting..or just wanting to downplay in favor of them bouncing back after exit: e...

i mean physical sales are fanbase their recent release is their most sold , people are over hyping the hit the fanbase took.

maybe Ikons took a big hit but winners didnt.

It's not like SVT are the ones blocking their success, Svt are doing good for their standarts but if the public really liked iKon's songs they would have charted higher, it's not the case tho

And I agree that this should be a warning to YG so he can humble himself a little bit and start promoting his artists and most importantly his rookies
