Idols making their own hype

Are idols missing out on the full golden opportunity of the social media age? YouTube alone has launched many talented and desperate into stardom and semi-stardom; it has fostered careers, introduced individuals to an otherwise indifferent audience, and showcased the skills of people in ways that infrequent television appearances couldn't. Someone talking about random shite for 3 minutes can garner millions of followers. Even Instagram has made models out of people who have put more plastic into their face then people have put into the ocean.

Idols who aren’t as well-known as their peers have a chance to even the score, domestically and internationally, so why haven’t idols taken advantage of this power? Creating a channel and updating it with dance/acoustic covers; talking about exciting news; doing anything to pull them out of the black hole of abismal nugudom. Are companies blocking their idols from producing material to place on social media or are idols just too busy to jump on this opportunity or maybe it would be too much exposure on top of an already public life? But when your debt to your company can even make the IRS feel bad for you, maybe you should start thinking outside of the box.

what idol has time for all that???

nugu ones

It doesn't take much time. Film a short vid of you talking/playing/dancing/etc and upload it, make it a short series with all the members and i-fans will eat it up (see: BTS pre-2015)
