Are Kpop stars mentally stronger than Western acts?

We often hear stories of Western child stars' mental breakdown ala Britney Spears. Or else they go through rebellious phase and start doing drugs and breaking the law like Justin Bieber and Lindsay Lohan. Whatever it is, Western teen stars all happen to have a period of disllilusionment with the industry. However the same does not happen to teenage Kpop stars. Sulli is the only one that comes to mind, and even then it's more trolling than anything else. So why do you think this happens, it is cultural? Or are Koreans just mentally stronger?

I think it's better preparation? they're being trained and prepared for the idol life for years before debuting while western celebs are usually just threw into all this mess without any knowledge about how entartainment works. Also, those western kids usually rise faster and are suddenly "big stars" while it's more gradual for kpop idols? so it's easier to get used to all of that.

Well, for one thing, they are more closed off than western stars. Unlike western stars who will get drunk in public, get DUIs, rant all over SNS, and be all over the media with their mess, most Kpop idols SNS are heavily monitored and they keep their messiness out of the public eye, because unlike western stars who can get away with being messy, Kpop idols risk losing their entire careers over the slightest thing.

If you're going to talk about breaking the law than talk about Kangin's DUI, I think he drove drunk twice. Nickhun's DUI. Park Bom's smuggling of illegal substances to Korea. Daesgun's alleged vehicular manslaughter and a plethora of other drug related charges and accusations towards Korean celebrities.

I wouldn't be too sure if Koreans are mentally stronger, after all look at the suicide rates in Korea. Also keep in mind that once you do something really awful in the eyes of Koreans you're career is over! I mean look at G.NA for example. She because a hooker (or some shit like that ) and she put the nail to the coffin of her career.

There's a cultural difference and societal norms that come to play with this. In the early 2000s it was sort of the "it" thing to do for these celebutants and socialites to get charged with a DUI. That's how you kept your name in the press. Also lets be honest here Hollywood is a dog eat dog business and people are ruthless, they also know how to play around with the system and they have great people working for them to make sure that some criminal charges are dropped, all you need to do is just bribe someone.

I suggest you should watch The Secret Societies of Hollywood. It's like a 5 part documentary on E! that talked about all different aspects of the Tinsletown.

They're not mentally stronger. There's so much we don't know about kpop idols. I'm sure they have mental breakdowns too. However western idols are exposed more to the dark side of the industry at a younger age because of the freedom they have. Korean groups do not have as much freedom early on due to their companies.

Honestly kpop idols are probably weaker. Considering SK high suicide rates/etc....I don't think kpop idols would be able to survive, if they were in the same situation.

Kpop groups have way stricter managements,I mean some aren't even allowed to date.

Also culturally drugs and drinking are way more scandalous in Asian countries. They probably don't have as much access to it as American celebrities.

one's robotic the other is self destructive

the fact that idols aren't allowed to make mistakes, even though most are children, is crazy. you gotta break down if you wanna build up.

suicide rates are high in sk, asia in general, these kids need counseling to deal with the pressure.
