Event Semi finals 1- OHvision song contest 2017 - polls closed, results pending

44  artists and songs have been picked to represent their country in  OHvision song contest 2017.

But only 20 songs can make it to the final. so the contest has been split into 2 semi finals with 22 songs fighting each other for 10 spots available in the semi for the final.

 

 

The country juries have already voted, its now time to listen to all 22 songs  in the semi final 1 and Vote for your favorites in the polls! 

 

I have listened to the songs myself and there are real gems in there so please do listen to all 22.

How the 10 songs who make it to the final is decided. 

 

 

1. The contestants/country vote:

the 22 players  who are representing the country in semi final 1 and picked the song for their country will rank their  10 favourite songs from 1- 10 in the ohvision pm.

 

their rank 1 will receive 12 points.

2nd - 10 points

3rd. - 8 points

4th - 7 points.

5th -  6 points- 

6th -  5 points.

7th -  4 points

8th - 3 points

9th - 2 points.

10th - 1 point.

 

THEY CAN NOT GIVE THEMSELVES ANY POINTS.

 

 

2. The poll in this thread.

the top 10 highest voted songs from the poll will receive triple points.

 

1st most votes- 36 points

2nd - 30 points

3rd -24 points

4th - 21 points

5th - 18 points

6th - 15 points

7th - 12 points

8th - 9 points

9th - 6 points

10th - 3 points

etc.

 

 

The songs that make it to the final are the countries with the 10 highest scores when votes from the poll, and from the other contestants/ countries are combined.

 

incase of a ties, the song that had the most votes in the poll are ranked higher. if tie in poll and points, the song with the most highest player given points (e.g had more 12 points)

Ok I get it now and found the common denominator.

The user who submitted Kurdistan advertised their song in the BTS thread and probably sent a PM to their friends to vote for it. This is sadly turning out to be a popularity contest over an actual song quality contest, bummer.

Guess I'll get my advertising on then!

the majority of the points come from other players. people had the same concerns last year, but the points system evens it out.

the thing is then, how do you know that people are not helping each other out that way too? 

 

i think if you are going to do a public poll like this, at least dont have the polls numbers update with who is in the lead.

 

time and time again, i've seen where people will just support who is in the lead at the moment... it's a very big bias ppl will get when they first encounter the poll.

 

when it comes to games you have to have faith that people will follow the rules and play fairly.

i cant regulate every little thing.

but if i see irregularities in the voting by players ( which would show up very clearly) i will deal with it.

but if people send me screen shots of people trying to cheat i will take action.

during award season I remember some popular threads implementing the post if ur voting rule. Maybe not this time but would it be better that way?

that was cause the polls wasent hosted at onehallyu/ in a thread, and they asked people to post to verify the votes being sent in where those of the user, not someone claiming to be that user.

Only the 10 of the 22 songs in semi final 1 will make it to the final.

 

 

i will reveal the bottom 12 countries  that didnt make it to the final along with their points,

4 at a time.

 

 

then i will reveal the top 10 countries  that made it to the final in random order ,withholding the scores they received.

i wont reveal the top 10 countries scores to stop tactical voting in the final.(will reveal at end of game)

 

Sweden and portugal players failed to rank songs, so another user ranked for portugal while sweden gave no points.
