I don't understand why people stream and brag about their biases MV views

I just came from a thread discussion Samuel's higher naver views compare to Jihoon. But what even is the point of these views? Not just for PD101 but for all fandoms in general, artists don't make much from YT views anyway and if it's just fans steaming songs isn't it just distorting the idol's true popularity?

I don't know much about PD101.

 

It's no different from streaming all day on Melon to keep your fave groups high the chart, buying multiple albums so their your hanteo and Gaon numbers are high. Yes they do distort true popularity (although you need a big fanbase to do it) but just like anything in life it's all about perception and that perception affects the idols in lots of different ways. They get booked more for CF's and TV shows. Not to mention bandwagon fans who jump on to the hyped groups .

What I don't get is when you check Youtube comments and there are people like: "Play the video for 5 hours every day and we'll make 100 million in XX days! Go (fandon name), we can do it!". Like what the fuck buy the fucking album and stop being ridiculous.
