Missed more Mike in this one. I think this album leans mostly on its lyrics while the music is just an emotional component, that's why not all songs resonated with me. But they pulled it off rather well,I think one more light encapsulated my feelings when I first heard a thousand suns for the first time.It was a wtf moment for me at first,than slowly I was like. ... Holy Fuck it gets better on every listen. They honestly picked the worse songs as singles,the album genuinely is better as a whole.i would need time...like at least a year with this,to actually gauge how it ages well or not.But one thing is certain,they haven't lost their experimental touch,The songs are pop music for sure,but the layers are very complex,like in sorry for now,or nobody can save me.I just wish the chipmunk voices were left out. They just ruin the flow.Sharp edges is officially the weirdest Linkin Park song,This is a special beast,and it won't resonate well with people,who haven't listened to folk music.still a decent 8.0 /10 for this album for me,while A the Hunting party was a balls to the walls fuck you statement,this is the calm after the storm. It seems they are now approaching singular sounds in terms of concepts,while MTM and ATS,were mostly about LP sending a more general reflection of Mankind and emotions and LT was trying to be a hybrid of all things LP.I hope for lp8 they go indie or psychedelic rock,hell even 80's rock would be cool af,this and the Hunting party shows that they can branch into other genres without screwing it up. As they said, this time they began with the lyrics and then came up with music, unlike previous times. The lyrics are so simple, yet so meaningful, you clearly know and relate to what they sing about. I can't believe it's almost 18 years since I first listened to them.
