How come Spain is so lgbt friendly?

I know that counties like Spain and Brazil are really friendly towards LGBT and even allow same sex marriage etc

But I'm a little confused because they are really Catholic countries and I was expecting people to be different than this

It's ok with Netherlands or Denmark but this makes me really surprised in a positive way ofc

It's not THAT LGBT friendly. there's just a lot of Gay people there.

 

Spain is pretty racist too so unless you're a cute white gay..good luck

Yes, the same sex marriage is legalized here. We may be more open than in other countries. But if you go down the street holding hands (and you're gay / lesbian), you're in danger of getting beat up. Teenagers suffer continuous bullying, have depression and the suicide rate is very high. But this is not seen in the news. Here most people are very conservative. Don't trust. Yes, it's true that here in Spain the LGBT community is noticed because there are a lot, nevertheless, you have to be careful.

 

 

The other day my uncle visited me, I have a Super Junior poster in my room.

He said: Are those girls ?

Me: They are boys.

My uncle: Oh well, I'm glad they're boys, because if you liked girls ...

Me: What if they were girls?

My uncle: You would have dissapointed to me.

I guess it depends on the regions. Here, in the north, people are more close minded. I mean, sure, you have quite a lot of openly gay people but the older generation is pretty racist/homophobic.

if you're interested in a country where you won't feel judged or barely, visit one of the bigger cities in the netherlands (like the hague or amsterdam)

I heard Denmark, New Zealend, Spain and Germany are pretty good. From experience i would say canada is a great too.

(montreal and toronto have a very high density of gay guys.)

 

Usa tho is too torn apart. Too large. There's so many different opinion and extreme that it make it seem chaotic. But places like palm spring, new york and san francisco are pretty good.

I'm from Spain and i can say that we're really good about that. There're always some people who bash about it (a minority) but in general we don't have any problem.
