Snsd initially had a cute/innocent concept which is how they built their fandom And it's not just girl groups,when IU initially flopped her company gave her cutesy songs,which were some of her biggest hits at the time. Most females gain popularity from being cute,then they can change up all their concepts . Wonder girls,T-ara follow the same rule. I was going by what knetz were complaining about in that article since you based this thread on it. A lot of girl groups change their concept from cute when they debuted to sexy and get booming. 2015 till now there are a lot of new groups so they start with cure concept. But a touch of aegyo during the perf isn't that bad. And to be honest,I will be happy if girl groups all choose a cute concept if it's gonna save their career. Some wise user said it before,they are idols because it's the job that they make money with. If Korea enjoys the concept and spends more money on it then let them be. They aren't gonna realize the girl crush concepts around unless it's a big 3 group. And another thing that annoys me is how many people think a cutesy concept girl group needs to change the concept but they never talk about how a girl group going with a powerful concept so often also gets boring.
