1. [+1,288, -178] Probably because their heights and bodies look like chodings

2. [+1,134, -30] My unni lives in New York and she's over 40 years old but people think she's in her twenties. Just like how we're bad at guessing westerner ages, westerners aren't really good at guessing Asian ages either. But then again, Asians are pretty youthful looking in general.

3. [+714, -47] You look younger the less defined your features are ã…‹ã…‹ westerners have more dimensional faces so Asians by comparison look younger.

4. [+370, -3] White people are pretty bad at guessing Asian ages

5. [+367, -24] IU has a choding body even by Korean standards tsk tsk tsk

6. [+301, -4] I remember an American singer had a concert in Korea and they said in an interview that they have a ton of junior/high school fans in Korea ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ but when I saw the concert footage, everyone was actually in their twenties ã…‹ã…‹

7. [+250, -15] IU's considered a choding by Korean standards too

8. [+257, -65] I understand mistaking IU as a choding but I feel like you couldn't make that mistake with Yoo In Na's body...

9. [+86, -5] They're right... I remember being hit on by white kids who were 10 years younger than me. And black people don't age either. Their skin looks the same in their teens or their fifties.

10. [+55, -5] Basically a roundabout way for foreigns to say they feel no sexual attraction

1. [+873 -51] I'm a 28 year old woman living in Canada and when I went to buy cigarettes, they asked for my ID. I asked them how old they thought I was and they said 13 or 14 ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ America as a country doesn't really care about age. If you want to be treated like you're in your twenties or thirties in your forties, head overseas

2. [+776, -31] I went to America when I was 33 and remember people talking to themselves asking why a minor was drinking ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ I guess with IU and Yoo In Na's visuals, you really could pass for a choding ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ foreigners are really bad at guessing Korean ages

3. [+457, -68] Really glad to see their friendship... I want Yoo In Na back on radio...

4. [+55, -2] My 44 year old friend was hospitalized in Canada once and all the nurses were like "unbelievable!" when they saw her age written on her info sheet. She looks 44 to me but the nurses were like "you can never tell with Asian ages"

5. [+51, -3] Yeah, westerners have very different standards when it comes to aging compared to Asians ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

6. [+49, -4] This is true.. I turn 30 this year but when I visited Europe, everyone thought I was in high school. Seems like Asians age slower than others.

7. [+47, -3] Yeah, westerners are pretty bad at guessing Asian ages ã…‹ã…‹ especially the less defined your facial features/body are.. Yoo In Na has a great body but she's very petite in general. As for IU.... sigh.

8. [+39, -6] Probably the same as how us Asians have a hard time guessing the ages of black people

9. [+33, -8] Asians get all happy when westerners guess their age wrong and share stories like this but it's not like westerners are giving us a compliment when they say that. Westerners aren't as obsessed with looking youthful as we are so when they're calling you young, they're not saying it like "so youthful~", they're saying it like, "hey kiddo"

10. [+29, -1] I went to Hawaii for my honeymoon with my husband when we were 27 and 30 years old... I asked someone for directions at the airport and the person asked where our parents were... ã…‹ã…‹

We aren't good at guessing our own ages either. I have way too many stories of being mistaken for 5+ years younger or older than I am.

Hell, I was on the bus the other day and I saw a couple of girls that looked the same age/older than me, but they were wearing their secondary school Class of 2017 hoodies. 0u0plz.png

As a 27 year old Vietnamese-American woman, I can relate to all the comments saying that many westerners mistake Asians to be younger than they really are. I get mistaken for being a freshman high school student all the time. Even back when I was 18 and I no longer needed my mom to come along with me to doctor's appointments, I still got nurses asking me where my mom was and then I had to awkwardly explain to them I was 18. It doesn't help that I'm short, petite, and have a pretty young-looking face. Even my cousins at my age didn't get mistaken for being younger than they are.

idk I've had a lot of people, especially nurses and doctors, telling me "you'll be so happy in 20 years when you're 50 and you still look 20"

This is true a lot of times. My father mistook Baekhyun for a prepubescent girl once.

do you mean America as a continent because you just said you live in Canada two sentences ago because the US and Canada are two separate countries on the same continent.

and checking IDs is a required policy here in the US especially if you're buying cigs/alcohol. It doesn't matter if you're 35 or 25, they'll still require you to show your ID to prove that you're 21 years or older because anyone can look older or younger than their age and employees can't take that risk because then they can get sued/fired. Working in the service industry taught me that.

IU I kinda get, but Yoo In Na? Maybe it's just a bad photo, but I'd guess her age to be late thirties.

or even in her late 20s. She'd pass more for a college student than a junior high student.

But anyway I relate to so much of these comments.

true Asians and black people mostly look youthful for longer time, some white people age like milk unfortunately rlytearpls.png

it's not that they "age like milk", it's that many white people who end up with aging skin even when they're still supposedly young age don't practice proper skincare. The ones that have good skin even into their 50s are the ones that practice good skincare. I don't know about black people so I can't say anything about them, but there's a lot of emphasis on putting on sunscreen on a daily basis and protecting your skin from the sun in Asian cultures, along with keeping your skin moisturized. Sun protection plays a huge role in preventing aging.

Black don't crack and Asian don't raisin.

Fat don't crack either. But old fat white people still look old. :derp:

Honestly, it's not important to me that I use 12 different products on my face everyday just so I can look 6 months younger than I am. The emphasis on youthful skin just isn't big here. Healthy skin, sure. But I know so many people who don't care about having laugh lines or crowes feets.

And I agree with the comment that they aren't saying "wow, great skin" but "wow, that is weird". I don't trust people who look more than 10 years younger than they are. Makes me wonder what sort of deal with the devil have they made?

Not exactly something to brag about...

But honestly most europeans cant take care of their skin to save their lives, getting fried in the sun, sometimes on purpose with 0 sunscreen. Asian people prefer being pale and black people in the US dont need to tan and in africa prefer being lighter as well.

I dont think its gonna change anytime soon either, europeans care more about a fancy tan than youthful skin, my philosophy teacher has obviously gotten tan a lot and has a lot of wrinkles but everyone in class still considers her gorgeous so theres really no incentive to change.
