Love this thread ^_^ love numbers and stuff

Just to add ~~ I think SNSD got weekly No#1 with Oh!/All My Love Is For You last year. Don't remember what the weekly number was though. It was 60k+ though.

Hi!

It's one month old and it's more about k-drama but it concerns all Hallyu's doing in Japan so I post it here.

I know a lot of you are already full aware of it but it's for those that doesn't think that the tension between Korean and Japan had a really big impact on the k-pop acts and the way they are promoted in Japan since mid-2012:

^

Not only K-drama, Dokdo/Takeshima issues also left really big impact on K-Pop too. Music Station stopped invited K-Pop acts since mid year 2012, they don't even invite THSK despite their sales are still great as normal and many considered them as J-Pop acts rather than K-Pop, and that should tell you something

I know. I just said that the article is more about k-drama but as this issue applies too to k-music, that's why I post it.

totals over 50k update: http://kpopsales.blo...50000-unit.html

both CN Blue and SHINee have released 2 singles, a DVD and a Korean album... well shinee now has 2

BIGBANG only has one big release, a DVD but a couple of other smaller DVDs and a live album

I'd really like to see how a BB single would do these days

its been years since the last one and they were selling 35-40k back then

if Daesung can sell 50k of an album BB should be able to do similar or a single I think

It was "randomly" all the way up to charting as #14 on the daily chart for Sunday so almost all those 1,000 copies were sold on Sunday.

Most likely she had some event/concert thing that caused this, or there might have been some kind of clearance sale.

yes she has been touring clubs around Japan starting last week

they had albums on sale at the venues plus I'm sure it helped get her press/exposure

and that helped sales too

as for BIGBANG is their DVD doing well compared to Japanese artists?

Could someone explain all the numbers at the end?? (not the rank and the date, I get those)

Are they the number of units sold or some weird shit like on korean lists such as Gaon?

The legend is:

rank this week / title of release / sales this week / overall sales / date released / initials of release company

artist

Why are kpop albums doing so much better than singles? There's only 2 singles on the top 100... With that said the number of albums sold by the the Korean groups aren't that high (except for THSK and Beast)

Do you mean Korean CDs ranking on Oricon?

That could be because of the price difference

(Korean CDs, even import version tend to be cheaper than Japanese releases)

Perhaps the fans also prefer the Korean material

as for singles, its been pretty dead in terms of releases recently

so there isn't much to chart

while there has been a stream of Korean releases lately

That would be my guess

Oh, I see. The Korean charts confuse me and I haven't thought much of Oricon until I saw this thread. I like the Japanese charts more, they're so simple.

 The full legend is:

rank this week / rank previous week / symbol for up, down, new / title of release / sales this week / overall sales / date released / initials of release company
artist / highest weekly rank / number of weeks on the chart

Thanks!

It's not just something for kpop.

It's mostly the already existing hard core fan base that buy singles. And those fans will buy the release right away. Therefore the sales number drop very fast. Even a top top seller may drop out of the top-100 already after a few weeks.

Albums have much much more longevity, so an album from a big artist may keep charting for a very very long time.

BigBang is now at #11-12 for yearly DVD and #13 for yearly Blu-ray. They are now #2 Kpop male group after THSK in Japan (I don't count JYJ because there 's no official record in Oricon to track their numbers, so it 's hard to tell where they are exactly)

^ what band and single is #140?? It's all in Japanese...

T-ara's entry is for Bunny style? Does that mean they were on place 80 last week?
