So, what does freedom of speech really mean to mods?

Because clearly, we all have different definitions. Just like some users, it seems some mods can't distinguish bashing and criticizing.

Apparently you can't criticize writing with bashing said user.

I'm not saying they always do their job wrong, i'm not trying to bash the mods, but sometimes the shiz they do is uncalled for and it's justification is not so justifying.

Discuss until locked juseyo.

if criticizing writing = bashing writer

does that mean

criticizing music = bashing singers/producers/song writers/people who make the singing/song writing process happen

anything that doesnt hurt their pride...

To correct you: As far as I am aware we didn't ask for the thread to be removed because we don't mind you discussing it as long as we're not insulted. If threads end up reported it's up to the mods to decide to lock or delete it.

In fact, in the comments on the article I had thanked a user for commenting.

EDIT: Nice, a downvote for correcting assumptions. Rational.

Why people think this forum allows freedom of speech in the first place is beyond me~ Like you clearly can't say whatever you want if it's breaking rules~ There is no freedom of speech on forums~

the point is the thread that got deleted wasn't breaking any rules and from my understanding, got removed simply for criticizing an article written by OH staff

EDIT: "Staff want to keep up the freedom of speech, but threads or posts meant for trolling, click-bait, bashing, made to offend other users, etc will not be tolerated."

Not that I disagree but to be fair, they specifically do mention that they want to uphold "freedom of speech". So it's fair to question what that means in the context of this forum

I don't know the whole situation with this OH!Press Thread but if it was closed, it was probably breaking some rule to the mods~ Like I'm sure if you ask them why it was locked, they'll say why and you can determine if it was locked just for criticizing staff~

I said something bad about T*ump once because I was really mad at him cuz you know... Trump, and I got 3 wp and couldn't post for 2 days. I mean, I understand what I said wasn't a good thing but it's not like a selfish prejudiced person who can literally destroy the planet is good either so

They said it was locked simply for "bashing users" in the ask a mod thread which there really wasn't much of.

That's not really the point shes trying to make. It's whether criticizing something equates to bashing. Like where that line is drawn. Because a thoughtful discussion/criticism of the writing of, let's say, an article by a member of OH shouldn't necessarily rise to the level of bashing or attacking them.

I agree with you that obviously if you break the rules, your shit should be locked. You agree to use the forum and abide the rules. The problem is when stuff gets locked that doesn't really appear to be breaking any rule at all.

If this is true and the thread was reported then its the job of the mods to look if the rules indeed were broken. Last time I checked the thread was full of complaints about biased editors and the isolation of BTS even though the title says kpop. I havent seen one post that bashed any editors on a personal level. The thread was full of users voicing their complaints and its just iffy that it gets deleted...

A majority of people (and I mean a MAJORITY) in the thread were criticizing the writing and it's focus, not the staff. The number of people criticizing the staff was so little, the mods could've easily cleaned it up. However, it was locked for " technically bashing the users" as one of the mods said in the AAM thread.
