Exotic♕Queen♛ 607
For those who just heard of such words, they are people who identify as "transpecies" in a sense. That they originally meant to be or reincarnated as a certain type of being, but were born human. They are a legitimate subcultural community that (I think) originated from Tumblr because that's where I hear a lot of them are at. There's apparently a difference between the 2. Therians are those who consider themselves as animals such as a cat, wolf, etc. For example this chick: Otherkin on the other hand are like Therians, just instead of existing animals like birds, dogs, lions, and whatnot, they legitimately believe they're nonexistent being ranging from mythological/spiritual creatures such as angels, vampires, elves, dragons, etc. to even beings of pop culture such as cartoon characters. As ridiculous as this sounds, it's gotten to a point where they have they're own wikipedia page. Do you find this nonsense or real? Are you an otherkin or somewhere in between? Personally, I think there is something up with them mentally and emotionally and that they feel their life as humans suck so much that they fantasize as being different creatures or beasts. I think they need psychological help. I may be straight and cisgender so I can't speak for those in the LGBTQ+ community, but to identify themselves as "transpecies" and feel they have similar problems as those who are transgender is a little bit out of line if you ask me. If you go on Tumblr you'll see what I mean. If it's out of a religious belief I can sorta understand but everything else. Nah. If someone of that community is reading this, they'll probably think I'm "species-ist" or "kin-ist" or whatever but IDGAF. I mean I don't hate them or wish them harm or anything, I just think they're not wired straight up there.

GalaxunnieSuperOppa 5,997
I mean, they aren't hurting anyone, but I only really trust the ones who believe in it for religious purposes (as in it's like a spiritual connection). The rest of it sounds like bs.

PurachinaDisuko 3,721
I think it's a very interesting concept. The idea of being a different creature in a past life, and trying to embrace it as a human is something I enjoy reading about. The "food" they come up with eat to help them not dissociate, certain clothing they wear, etc is fascinating to learn about. While at times it does seem to be weird (like "dogkin" people trying not to "bark" in public), I don't mind those people, I just let them do their thing, even if I don't share the same beliefs as they do. I know most do it for coping (though I see it as pretty unhealthy), so I that's part of the reason why I don't ridicule it.They're not hurting anybody, so I don't understand why they get harassed a lot on the internet, but there's always that mentality of people deciding to harass others over something they don't understand. I guess it's cool but Jooheon of Monsta X for instance revealed that in his past life he was a circus tiger. But you don't see or hear of him calling himself "tiger-kin", walking on all fours and roaring and shit.

Because thinking your something in a past life is pretty different from actively feeling the need to become that creature again, like otherkin and therians.
