A gay life story that is turning into the right direction:

I am sometimes feeling so sad and devastated when I see like 'parent killed they gay child to wash away the shame' etc and I guess you are feeling the same way so I would like to share my life story with you

I am 18yo and gay

I am living in Bosnia and Herzegovina which is somehow on a border between Europe and Asia so that means people accept it but also hate it, it's like 50:50

I have to admit that my childhood wasn't always easy, especially in school

I was bullied so many times, it gave me lots of painful moments and my personality is still lacking today because of it

But things are getting way better

My family and parents always knew that and were on my side 100%

I am finishing high school in 3 weeks and I'm moving to Germany to study there where my father lives

I can speak fluent German and English and I'm going to give my best to succeed and make my parents proud

I want to say thank you to my parents somehow because I'm so thankful of what they did to me

Germany is really open with LGBT rights so I'm expecting that it's going to be easier up there hehe

Same sex marriage is going to be legalised in about 3-5 years and because I'm planning to get married in like 10 years it's perfect for me haha

I just want to say that I'm pretty sure there are many of you that are struggling atm but I just wanted to tell you never, ever give up and keep believing in good and a better tomorrow!!!

I also had days when I just thought I couldn't do it anymore but trust me, time does everything and karma is a great b*tch, everyone will get what they deserve at the end 🔚

Please stay calm and positive and think about all the good things that you have in your life and focus on them ^^

If you have someone that is struggling like this please show them this post and I hope I can make someone the day better ^^^^^^^^^

:-) ☺ â¤â¤â¤â¤

Ps vote for Yoon Jisung on Produce 101

I hope you get a chance to blossom in Germany. For the record, your personality isn't lacking, you just haven't been safe to show it all the time yet. I hope Germany finds you there. (((Hugs)))

Some unsolicited advice (please forgive me and ignore it if it's not applicable for you). I know a lot of people find the bar scene first, and it is a great fit and leads to wonderful friendships for many people. There are also many people who don't enjoy that scene though, and if that is the case for you, I'd remember that there is a wider community outside the nightlife. When I was your age (god I sound old, lol) I got involved in some queer social groups, these are usually divided by age. I'm still friends with a lot of people I met through those groups, and those groups are great support for people who have recently come out and/or are starting to make their way in the gay community. Not to mention, it gives you a friend (or 7) to go to the bars/clubs with, which can be a huge plus when you're new to the area and don't know many people (or like I was, I didn't know a soul).

Thanks so much for this but I'm not really a bar guy I think

Definitely check out the social groups then. I don't even know if Meetup dot com is big in Germany but a lot of queer interest groups (like gaymers, I joined groups based around this in several cities now,-- it's basically for gays who like board games, lol) organize through meetup.

I'm totally gonna plug for gaymers, lol, but it's not like an organized thing, just individual groups formed around a popular hobby. I just checked, Berlin has a gaymers group (though it's call something different), so depending on where in Germany you are, there might be something like it. The nice thing is you don't even have to know anything about the board games, plenty of people go to these types of groups for a low key chance to meet people and make friends.

And there might easily be another website that's more popular than meetup in whatever city you're going to, as well as hopefully an LGBT Center (either for the city or for school if you're going to Germany as a student) which will also have a ton of social groups (and likely a support group for people newly out/coming out).

Good luck!

well, i'm a bisexual german who's currently living in another country

tbh, I think you'll be fine. the population of any medium to large town is in majority for accepting.

we had a few gay people and an openly gay teacher in high school. the first one who came out was the representative of our grade, pretty popular and won prom king.
