was it a good thing that joy took the part in the liar and his lover?

I have been postponing watching the liar and his lover, but last week I finally started watching it.

the first few episodes were not that bad but I honestly never thought the drama would become so obnoxious, every single character is extremely unlikable except for that chubby dude in mush&co.

the whole thing is just extremely lame and predictable.

I'm happy that joy got a part and all, I know she couldn't have gotten a top tier part for her first acting experience. but after seeing that thing, I wonder

do you think joy would have been better off without the part?

I loved the original so much

The Korean version was a real disappointment..

I couldn't even finish the first episode :derp:

She would've been better off doing a web drama or smth

Are you sure? Because he's one of the worst characters, his dumb self let that stalker girl steal his phone twice before he clocked something is up. He's stupid and insecure not to mention the actor is kind of terrible.

But agree that it's a shit drama. Joy would've been better off. It looked promising too, sigh.

I think it is a good experience for her.

I like the drama though, I think it's sweet and has pretty cinematography, but is really is just fluff so I understand a lot of the criticism. I like watching the cast get better and better though lol.

Idk if she did well or not but i've seen her getting some positive responses especially for her vocals and it's also an experience for her to learn from.

Tbh Korean remakes of Japanese dramas are usually not that good so i didn't expext much from it.

agree on that one.koreans are too ... soft and drag the dramas? if that makes sense

Hana yori dango and Boys over flowers   are perfect example of heaven and earth.

Yeah and they usually make the dramas much more revolved around the love story than they are, i also agree about them feeling draggy lol

Hana Yori Dango was just so enjoyable,BIF really paled in comparison.Hana Kimi and To the beautiful you is also another example.

I dropped after the first episode (my girls didn't hear me say that)

I'm not a fan of remakes in general. I tried to watch it to support Joy but the plot just didn't cut it for me...It was so cringy and the characters were annoying...Everyone has to start somewhere so I'm glad that Joy got this opportunity to learn and gain from...

That aside, my girl got to sing a couple songs so I'll buy the ost album later to support :V

Weirdly enough, I really enjoyed the drama so much as it makes me smile during happy endings and genuinely sad/angry if the ending is a cliffhanger. Maybe because I didn't watch the Japanese one + i like these stuff so I enjoyed it a lot. Joy's acting was really good for me, although ofc there were parts when she wasn't that good (weirdly enough, most of them were parts where she was in her house lol)

EDIT: It was really good exposure for Joy, I think. It makes her viable for future drama's, varieties, etc.

I think it was good for her, regardless of the ratings she's still getting some recognition and positive feedback from it which is a good thing, and she fits the part well, considering is a drama consisting mainly of rookie actors I don't think people are allowed to criticize her for getting the lead role either, she had the chance to learn something different (a.k.a acting) and also got to showcase her vocals a lot, call me biased if you want but since is her first time acting I don't think she did bad and with improvements I think she have the potential, now is up to her whether she wants to pursue more roles and grow as an actress aside from being an idol, or to just stick to music and being an idol without side-jobs, it all comes down to her decisions and I think whatever she chooses is best for her.

I'm part of the minority who didn't particularly enjoy the Japanese movie adaptation (Though Takeru Sato's Aki>>>>>Hankyul), and I also like the drama, I admit the first episodes where ehh but starting from episode 3 I started to really enjoy it (Still prefer the manga above all things though).

I was really excited to watch her very first drama. But the story line was bland. I know everyone says the J ver is better. Korean dramas has a way of making their remakes into a very typical k drama if that make sense haha. Joy needs improvement in her acting as well. Her facial expressions weren't natural but anyway learning experience for her.

It's weird how much backlash the drama is getting on here considering that sites like dramabeans who is known for having people with years and years of kdrama acknoweldge loving it so much. I think people on here are mainly judgemental because she got the lead role without any experience. Like joyoustouh, I may sound biased but she's fairly better in her first ever work than some of the most popular idols turned into actresses right now. Of course not everyone can pull a Hyeri or Eunji, she still has a LONG way to go but I see the potential she just needs to practice and polish it. It's a shame you didn't like it though, the drama at least for me is more than a "childish" drama of someone who fell in love at first sight. Especially because of the stories of the supporting roles. The drama gets better after the first four eps so if you ever wanna try to watch it again hang in there the first four eps haha.

I think joy must be careful for her next drama, i hope she take supporting role for her next drama. I watched this drama, because i likes joy. I will give up if joy isn't the lead.

Joy is too green on her acting. First acting on tv and she already got a lead role? Jeez and sorry if it hurts her fans but tbh her visual is not lead material. Have not seen Irene's acting yet but I think her visual is so much better on dramas than Joy.

Anyways, I also don't like the lead actor's acting.

tVn dramas nowadays sucks. The last drama I have enjoyed from them was Oh Haeyoung, the story was bad but Seo Hyun Jin's acting is good.
