Hollywood Visual Effects Movies vs Japanese/South Korean Visual Effects Movies

Hello all,

 

I have been doing my research on Hollywood Visual Effects Movies vs Japanese/South Korean Visual Effects Movies.

 

I just can't help but feel that Japanese/South Korean Visual Effects Movies lose to Hollywood Visual Effects Movies in terms of Special Visual Effects.

 

Just look at Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Warcraft, Lord of the Rings.. there are not a single movies which can outfight the mentioned Hollywood movies..

 

Some may mention Kamen Riders, Ultraman and Godzillas.. but aren't the special effects in these 3 Japanese movies quite cheesy and childish?

I think it is because of higher budgets that are in Hollywood plus the fact that the worlds best are probably in contract for the producing companies there too

if someone give lots of money of to Japanese visual effects studios, can they provide the same quality of content visual effects as Hollywood?

 

just look at transformers movies.. i doubt any Japanese movies or dramas can compete..

Hmm I'm not sure but I thought that because the most money is in hollywood > visual effect talents from the world move to Hollywood and get employed there > less talent over for other region's movies? But perhaps I'm thinking wrong ahh

Hollywood uses variety of approach in using CGI, in starwars rogue 1 they used adobe after effects with plugins.

Idk about Special Effects but in terms of Directing, Korean movies are amazing. Tazza 2 had some sick transitions and angles.

 

Never forget that Hollywood has Great Gatsby, that film was full of shit special effects imo
