What do you feel about...

What do you feel about fans doing things in the name of their idols, like , you give charity or do something good in your community in the name of your idol
Do you think this is hypocrite? Like, if your idol didn't exist , would these fans collect money and do that nonetheless ?
In my opinion , you may disagree with me ( actually this is why I made this thread , I want to read your opinions about this ) , idols should do these stuff themselves, if you have money you should donate it in your name , not in the name of your idol, if you want to do something good to the community, you do it for your community's sake not because your want others to glorify your bias's name .
I know many of you would say : it doesn't matter as long as it ends up doing something good, but I'm talking about the mentality of fans here, it sounds like you're thinking about your already rich idol more than your community who needs you . Like , if these fans heard about a group they don't like who decided to make a charity concert, will they purchase tickets knowing their money will end up somewhere good? I don't think they will....

What do you think?

I don't see a problem with it. At least they're doing things that benefit others.

At least they are doing something good

"The end justifies the means"

As long as they're donating to charity, why should I care if its for in the name of an idol? Their heart is still in the right place.

All's well that ends well

The problem is : Is this the right way to encourage donations and charitable mentality ? By doing it to glorify someone else's name? I'm talking about the mentality not about the result, If you give money to a poor family and then you say it's because I like X idol more than just because I care about you because you're poor?

Many fans don't do charity in normal situations , they do it when it creates a good reputation for their idols and I feel like it's a bit insulting to people you're trying to help, it's not genuine....

That saying does not fit in this context

It would make sense if fans were doing something morally wrong to do charity, not just putting it under someone else's name

See there are many things fans can spend their money on . Like EXO's Chinese fans spent millions for that Times Square add on their 5th anniversary or they buy more albums to go to fan signs and buying a piece of land for their faves on their birthday . All this also adds to the reputation of their groups .

But if they think of spending that same money on  charity and donations even if its bcz of the same reason (their bias' reputation) they actually thought to do a good thing in the first place bcz of it .Their are many business groups , sportspersons , NGOs that donate in someone's name , it helps both the needy and themselves . The person receiving would not necessarily care as to what was the intention behind the donation , he needs it so he'll take it . Its a great thing if your intention is to help them (which is surely the intention of a lot of fans if they thought of donating among all the other things) and even if its not , even if its just for the sake of their bias it eventually is helping someone . I don't think anything is wrong with that .
