East Asian American students tend to be better students than their peers in k-12.

The Asian Model Minority label has been prevalent for a long time now and I believe one of the major reasons is the hard-working nature of their culture. East Asian Americans tend to be some of the most achieving and brightest students. From my perspective, they tend to be very well behave during k-12. Which means they don't disrupt or give their teachers a hard time like most of their peers in school. They tend to have high GPAs because they work very hard in their studies. Even if an East-Asian American student isn't doing well in his or her studies, they are still well-behave enough to not bring in problems for their instructors.

I believe that even in poor quality schools, if it is filled with East Asian American students then it can still achieve a great rating.

East-Asian American students have higher SAT scores on average.

They also have higher GPA on average than every other race in the U.S

When you account for economic status, the racist "model minority" paradigm crumbles. East Asian students perform well for the most part because they come from carefully pre-screened upper middle class immigration.

In fact, the highest rates of university education are obtained by foreign-born African-Americans.

I disagree. I had East Asian-American and Southeast Asian-American classmates in elementary school who were little shits.

"note that Asian immigrants are a self-selecting group that may be more optimistic and motivated to accept challenges and view education as the key to social and economic mobility."

Who the hell do you think can afford the fees to immigrate ?

The article never indicated that the Asian-Americans were well off nor rich.

It's called common-sense extrapolation. The vast majority of Asian-American immigrants are highly educated privileged people who could afford immigration to the US.
