Hello fellow Donghyun fans! This is my first time posting in his thread.

 

Before episode 6 aired and we only had spoilers from the live audience, I had a theory that some trainees got switched into positions they didn't want. Obviously I was totally wrong (but like for real, what were some of them thinking, I cannot), but in retrospect Donghyun choosing Boys and Girls was a clever move that actually makes sense. Singing the prominent vocal parts in team of only three people for a fun hype song should mean greater chances of standing out, and screentime is what he needed the most from Mnet. He played the PD101 game well! Too bad somebody else did not and he got kinda buried in their bts anyways... 

 

Will forever be wishing for the stage we could have had if Woo Jinyoung, Sangkyun, Gwanghyun, or literally any other rapper was on their team. Even if all the other rappers kept the same choices instead of picking Boys and Girls, there would still be Yongjin or Namhyung. I guess the silver lining is that Youngmin will rise even more because of this? To a lesser extent, I think Donghyun will too, but I'm also a little peeved that for the sake of a continuous storyline from Be Mine 2, Mnet didn't give him the angel edit even though he also helped Dongbin out a lot.

 

Anyways I just feel soooo terrible for what they had to go through during that week of practice, it must have fucking sucked, sorry for the language haha. febviolet made a good observation that his MaBoy video was probably filmed then...Donghyun really has such a good personality, always cheering others on. I was so moved by how he managed to keep a happy face on and encouragingly shout 좋아 when he had his arm around Dongbin in that tiny practice room.

 

This was kinda long for something that we are probably all feeling anyways but I feel sad about it so I wanted to write it out. I'll be just as nervous as the rest of you during episode 8. He needs to rise six spots to make the cut and while there are a few people in the current top 35 I can see falling out due to general declining popularity or having mainly "filler" votes after the reset, it's going to be tough because there are also a few more people around the same rank as Donghyun who I can see rising too. Maybe DongYoungPo will make miracles happen. Maybe BNM bus will finally take off. Maybe his fancam will save him. Donghyun doesn't deserve this, let's hope for the best

Maybe I'm being delulu but here is why I think Donghyun passed the second eliminations

Anywaysss, let's move on to a marginally less depressing topic....Donghyun's rank! I think he might have made it to top 35! His ep6 rank was 41, so he needed to move up 6 spots. According to sightings of trainees out in public instead of practicing at Paju for concept evals, there are three people ranked above him who we can tentatively assume were eliminated: Tip Toe Oppa (31) OTL Eunki (39) OTL OTL and Woo Jinyoung (40) OTL OTL OTL. There is also Taemin (37) who had to withdraw due to illness OTL OTL OTL OTL so Donghyun can be thought of as two spots away from making the cut. There are at least three more trainees in the current top 35 who I can see falling out because they were previously in the 50's and most likely chosen as "unthreatening" filler votes (sorry that sounds mean but it's probably true), there is only one person below Donghyun (Jinwoo @ 42) who can realistically rise into top 35, and the Pann promotions / bus voting might have been very effective. We shall see!

Preview is up and I was about to have a mental breakdown because I was pretty sure that both Donghan and Donghyun would pass second elims...

Now I really really hope the rumors about Donghyun being in I Know You Know are true. That song was practically made for his voice, it's a perfect fit.

Donghyun did amazing!! I tend to worry for him since dancing doesn't seem to come naturally to him (what he shows us on stage is the result of an enormous amount of effort on his part, not inborn talent or cultivated skill, although tbf I'm really critical about dancing in general) but he is hitting all the choreo perfectly and there is an extra bounce in his step, I love it <3

 

That almost sounded like a bash, I think, but it isn't haha. His hard work is very admirable and I'm glad that he was able to catch the eye of non-fans in the live audience. This song/concept is so perfect for him yayayay 15.5+ hours until more people start waking up and appreciating him~

I just saw a translated post on the BNM blog and I didn't know that some fans called him 그리 

Did she explain why? (I can't find the post you're talking about)

Is it because MC Gree is another 98-line Kim Donghyun in Brand New

Me neither! It's really sloppy (did he even try with that last line) but I got over it in two seconds and find it endearing now (sideyes self). His fansign post-it notes are going to be quite a challenge to decipher aren't they haha.

It's a Youngmin post and it was just briefly mentioned and not explained. But I'm pretty sure it's because of MC Gree. Otherwise I'm just cackling to myself for no reason.

Thanks! I totally missed that the first time. Hehe I hope it's the reason too, I find it amusing that Donghyun has an actual fraternal twin (Taehyun) plus another work twin (MC Gree) not to mention the belated ship with Kim Donghan and IKYK having 3Dong which includes...Kim Taedong!!
