I'm hoping Donghyun can get #35 for the next elimination, like his successor Lee Suhyun. His performance did air this week so I do think he has a better chance to garner more votes than the one who didn't.

I never believe the rumours about the elimination ranking. None of them have proven to be true except the one from last season where Kyulkyung/Pinky was 19th after the one pick vote. But there have been ones going around with Donghyun at 33rd and 26th. Please let any of these be true!

Donghyun made it onto the preview last week and now this again. This is the most spotlight he's even gotten lol. Mnet better not play me. Also watch them reveal that 35th is not Kim DongX at all.

 

If Donghyun is the guy in the back when Youngmin is speaking, then that means he didn't get 35th since they reveal that last right? Yay knets coming through with them votes. It would also be his highest rank on the show ever. But if he does get 35th, watch him become the next Lee Suhyun. I called it.

Yes I hope we get more acoustic music enthusiast Donghyun in the future. That song he sang in the intro vid is the reason he became my favourite.

 

About his dancing, I thought he did really well in IKYK. A lot better than the first performance with the BNM boys where his dancing wasn't as hard hitting (I don't know if this is a term but that's what came to mind).

Is it because MC Gree is another 98-line Kim Donghyun in Brand New

Thanks! I totally missed that the first time. Hehe I hope it's the reason too, I find it amusing that Donghyun has an actual fraternal twin (Taehyun) plus another work twin (MC Gree) not to mention the belated ship with Kim Donghan and IKYK having 3Dong which includes...Kim Taedong!!

 

I hope we get to see the 2 Donghyuns interacting in the future. I wonder if they're friends lol

 

I noticed that 3Dong/Trinidong all voted for Donghyun as the leader for IKYK. Why did we not have this friendship earlier?!?! 

 

This is off topic and v selfish but I'm hoping that Donghyun makes it into top 22 so if they have the guerrilla concert, IKYK would practically be a Donghyun solo. But I feel like none of the team made it...

I really hope Donghyun doesn't give up. He made it so far into the competition and he made it through 10/11 episodes, under the assumption that he doesn't make it into top 22. Also they invite all the trainees back for the finale so he would've actually made it onto all the episodes technically. 

 

There is also a lot of hype for the BNM boys. He may not be the most popular one but the group has a lot of backing from fans of the other members as well, even though some of them are akgaes.

 

About the 5th boy in the pictures, a quick google search leads me to the main thread where someone says he's called Jung Myunghoon (97 liner). I don't know about Yoon Jaehee. I think he could be the other boy that appears in the MC Gree MV.

Also this is another one of them rumored lineups. It was on the main thread just then. Justice for miracle boy Donghyun!! Jokes should just take this with a grain of salt like always. Mnet probably going to use all these rumours for their teaser again.

I saw that rumour as well and it seems like a stretch, especially the Youngmin part. I feel like Mnet is going to use him as the preview bait this time. 

 

Well I've come to accept that Donghyun is vvvvvery likely not going to make it so here's to hoping that he doesn't get stuck in the BNM dungeon for too long after the show.

So I poked around Naver a bit today and found some interesting information:

 

APP Music Academy, Donghyun's first academy (to my knowledge), made a post congratulating him for passing his JYP audition and becoming a trainee on 11/04/2014.

M Contents Vocal Academy, his second academy, made a post congratulating him for passing an audition for a company he really wanted to get into on 06/08/2016 but said they won't reveal which agency until August.

So assuming he officially became a trainee around when he passed the auditions, he was a trainee at JYP for at most about 1 year 7 months and has been at BNM for at most about 1 year. On his profile, he says he has been a trainee for 11 months, which matches up to this timeline if he's only referring to his time at BNM. 

 

M Contents also posted a preview video for his showcase performance on 06/02/2016. It shows him practicing the cords to his self-composed song "You're Pretty."

JeA said Donghyun taught himself how to play the guitar and compose from watching Youtube videos and Somi said he started while at JYP. So "You're Pretty" was written sometime between 11/04/2014 and 06/02/2016. It's probably the oldest out of the 3 songs we've heard so far (Produce 101 audition song, You're Pretty, and I Just You).

 

So yea those are my findings! Hopefully that was worth the read. xD

 

Thank you for sharing! I've always been curious of the pre-broduce timeline of the BNM boys. Like were Daehwi, Donghyun and Woojin all training at JYPE at the same time. (I still don't know but I hope they talk about it in the future.)

Has performed lots of hard hitting songs. Has rapped. Goes and auditions for a hip hop label with Hongdae Geondae. lol. 

Oh man that made me even more curious. I think the staff person behind the camera must've signaled for him to not go into that story. 

 

My theory is the audition was a closed audition and how trainees got invited to audition is what needs to remain hush hush/is complicated. BNM did a very good job of hiding the fact that they're producing an idol group. When the boys first introduced themselves as BNM trainees, everyone from Cheetah ("I need to call Rhymer-oppa") to the rest of the trainees was shook. If BNM had gone around putting up audition posters, word would have spread real fast.

 

Maybe Rhymer had ties with JYP and he got to pick from their pool of trainees who weren't set to debut anytime soon?

In any case, I hope we get to hear the story eventually!

 

Until then I'm down to believe San e ransacked JYP's trainee collection on his way out. 

 

I know Daehwi was at JYP when Sixteen happened (2015) so if Donghyun was still at JYP then, they probably would've met. I don't know about Woojin. No one has mentioned much about his time there other than the Somi shoutout. I'd like to think they knew each other. Then the 4 that got sent onto PD101 would be the ones previously acquainted with Woojin. (Next thing you know, we find out Jaehee and Myunghoon also knew Woojin lol)

 

Omg all this pre-BNM Donghyun content makes sense why he wanted to join Brand New. But Hongdae Geondae and acoustic boy lol. Who you trying to fool

 

About the BNM audition, I remember seeing a post about it last year. I don't know if there were any prior to that. But I was actually surprised the trainees were not aware they were forming a boy group since the company is more high profiled than many of the ones on PD101. So wouldn't an audition for a company like BNM be more known?

Donghyun is perfect for Brand New! Visuals and vocals, just that type.

 

Brand New Music isn't known for idols groups, they have many successful solo artists and duos, including their indie label. Much of them are not what you'd consider "idols", rather they are considered artists. So hearing that they're creating an idol boy band specifically is surprising when you compare that to BNM's current image.

 

And they had an audition? I googled it and apparently they did, I didn't know that.

 

 

This one surfaced recently. They changed the age cutline OTL.

 

 

 

Yeah I know what you mean and I'm aware of the company image. I just thought maybe the other trainees might have heard about it and considered auditioning for the BNM boy group. But that audition post was from around September last year so the PD101 trainees were probably all under a company already/not actively searching for another company to join anyway.
