Instead of dismissing IU for having "chilled" and "boring" music

Let's commend her for sharing her feelings and sticking to her roots but also being verstalile enough so she can convey different types of sounds within her music.

Just my two cents

people are always gonna like different things and some people just aren't into kpop for artists with a sound and concept like IU, and that's okay

no need to make a thread ragging on them tbh

yep exactly. everyone has their own opinion.

I understand what everyone is saying about having your own opinions being fine(ur right), but it is true that when people hear slow songs they are dismissed as boring more often than belting-vocal-upbeat tracks are. It's a strange correlation people make and OP is right.

But some people actually find slow songs boring. The tempo puts them to sleep and makes it hard for them to care about the vocals or anything else really.

I personally am exhausted by too many slow songs which is why (among many other reasons) I like groups like f(x) and Rania, their albums don't have as many slow tempo songs.

I honestly think our generation has a bit of a collective short attention span (myself included) that keeps many people from appreciating slower stuff though. Like if you listen to popular music from the early 20th century (blues, etc.) it's so slow it makes something like Red Shoes sound frantic in comparison. And kpop songs that imitate disco make actual disco sound like a dirge. Or if you listen to classic house music from the early 90's (which 4walls was imitating) it's considerably lower energy and has longer buildups

There are people who consider Red Shoes slow?

I'm talking songs like - off her album - Ending Scene. Some people just can't take songs at that pace. Especially back to back. It's mostly about preference. That would be really boring to them.
