“Lookout†To Feature Great Chemistry Between SHINee’s Key And Kim Seul Gi

It sounds like drama lovers have plenty to look forward to from the upcoming MBC drama “Lookout,†including the chemistry between Kim Seul Gi and Key of SHINee!

The two popular young stars play two members of a team of vigilantes aiming to carry out justice in the action-thriller drama. Kim Seul Gi plays Seo Bo Mi, a woman who was transformed from a happy high school student into a recluse after being traumatized by a crime. She’s holed herself up in her tiny room and avoids social interaction as much as possible. Meanwhile, Key plays a quirky genius hacker named Gong Kyung Soo.

The pair only communicate via their phones and the Internet, and it’s said that they’ve never once meet in person. However, the bickering pair is a perfect fit, with Gong Kyung Soo hacking into CCTV systems and Seo Bo Mi monitoring footage in her room.

On May 17, the production team of “Lookout†shared stills of Key and Kim Seul Gi from the drama, giving us a new look at the pair. The drama also previously shared posters of each of its main characters, as well as stills of Key filming.

A representative from “Lookout†has said, “The pairing of Kim Seul Gi and Key is more than anyone could imagine. We expect that the witty duo’s collaboration and their unique ‘virtual’ chemistry will give a boost of fun and energy to the drama.â€

“‘Lookout’ couldn’t exist without them,†the representative went on to state. “Please look forward to Key and Kim Seul Gi’s impactful roles as the perfect partners.â€

“Lookout†stars Lee Si Young, Kim Young Kwang, Kim Tae Hoon, Key, Kim Seul Gi, and more, and will make its premiere on May 22.

SHINee’s Key Compares New Role In MBC’s “Lookout†With Previous Role In tvN’s “Drinking Soloâ€

On May 19, SHINee’s Key attended the press conference for upcoming MBC drama “Lookout,†where he talked about the differences between his characters from “Lookout†and tvN’s “Drinking Alone.â€

He said, “My character, Gong Kyung Soo, is a genius hacker but lacks in other areas. He is very hurt from things in his past, but works hard to live life on the bright side. Because my previous character from ‘Drinking Alone’ was also very bright and happy, I had to think of ways to show a difference in my new role.â€

Key also shared what he did to prepare for his new drama, saying, “I had to learn how to look very professional when dealing with computers, so I practiced using the keyboard a lot. Another thing I did for this role was learn how to skateboard. At first, it was hard to even stand up, but I’m getting used to it now.â€

Lee Si Young Discusses Difficulties Of Being A Bereaved Mother And Action Heroine In “Lookoutâ€

Lee Si Young opened up about the hard parts of playing her unique role in MBC’s new action-thriller drama “Lookout.â€

On May 19, Lee Si Young attended the press conference for “Lookout†held at the MBC Golden Mouth Hall. The actress will be playing the role of Cho Su Ji, a former professional shooter, detective, as well as a mother who loses her daughter in an unsolved crime. Needless to say, the role involves quite a bit of action and emotional turmoil.

Lee Si Young disclosed, “The hardest part was conveying the emotions of a parent who lost a child.†But her interaction with child actress and on screen daughter Ham Na Young seems to be worth looking out for. “I would find myself imagining different situations to focus on my sadness [when filming] previous dramas, but surprisingly I was able to concentrate well this time. I imagined Ham Na Young and things worked out well.â€

As a former amateur boxer, Lee Si Young also put her athletic side to use in the action-packed “Lookout.†She revealed, “I tried my best to carry out all the action scenes myself rather than using a body double.â€

However, she confessed that she’s still has a strange chemistry with male lead Kim Young Kwang. “We’re a little awkward. We hate each other [on screen], but I don’t know how this hostile relationship will play out later on.â€

The first episode of “Lookout†will air on May 22 at 10 p.m. KST.

[Eng Sub] Lookout - EP01 | EP02

Lookout was #1 on Naver's real-time search during its broadcast

So the 1st episode (aside from the car chase) was a little boring and I was kinda losing interest BUT the 2nd episode hooked me right back in.

Spoilers ahead

The scenes with the daughter just tugged at my heartstrings and then when she was pushed off the roof warstarplz.png

I got so choked up when Soo-Ji finds out it's her daughter in the ambulance and during all the scenes in the hospital afterwards. It sucks to know that she's not going to survive. warstarplz.png

I'm looking forward to episode 3 & 4 today la.gif I have so many unanswered questions.

Its surprising me to see that this drama ranked 2nd place,

Otherwise i cant  put hope too much since i saw knets comments are mostly interested w/ FMW, since its more fun.imstupid.png

Lookout is a bit heavy, a child dies in the 1st couple episodes, so I can understand them preferring a more lighthearted drama.

I finished epi 3 & 4

It's obv that comma hair douche is putting on a show. He isn't really like that. And the Kim guy said hes rly smart. The comma hair dude is prob the leader of the lookout team. He has grudges against the chief guy, so his goals are prob to get close to him in order to use him. Bcuz in the past his dad was sent to jail wrongfully. So obv the main goal of this drama is going to be clearing out the trash in the prosecutors office. so the comma hair guy rly set everything up to try and get close to the chief , but i don't think the kid was part of it. he was crying when the girl died then quickly put on an act when he was on the phone. i've seen a lot of drama with similar plot to this. this drama is moving very fast. as for the reason why the kid pushed the little girl off the roof i think it's because he was triggered about how she said she catches all the bad guys. maybe he wanted to be like oh so you can catch all the bad guys, you cant catch me type of thing. i hate that kid so much i hope he gets killed in this drama .. what a jerk. but anyways that lil fake rich guy he isn't bad.

I think the priest is the leader because he's the one Kyungsoo (Key) delivered the message to in the confessional booth and after the scene where he was looking sadly at the little girl's urn, Bomi (Seulgi) got the message that Sooji (Siyoung) would join them.

I think you're right about Dohan (KYK) not being a bad guy, he's definitely a member of the lookout because he uses the same voice altering as Bomi.

I also hate that boy! I think he's just a psychopath who thinks he can get away with anything because of his father. I was so hoping that would actually get shot by Sooji after he confessed, my blood was boiling souleyesplz.png

I can't wait for next week, these last couple episodes really picked up the pace.

Yeah i agreed with you

Just look at the ratings today, it so obvious.. laugh.png

First Impressions: “Lookout†Promises Action, Humor, And Thrills With Soon-To-Be Vigilante Crew

A dominating trend in this summer season’s lineup of dramas has got to be the crime-solving story. MBC wants in on the action with the new drama “Lookout,†which promises the whole package: romance, comedy, action, thriller, and crime. It’s a vigilante drama about a motley crew of people who all have one thing in common — they have experienced a great loss. These people band together to form a group that seeks justice.

Plot

Jo Su Ji (Lee Si Young) is a badass detective who drives motorcycles and beats criminals by day and becomes a doting, single mom at night. Everything is going smoothly, and she can balance her multiple roles pretty breezily (just like all tiger moms out there), until one unknown man suddenly barges into the police station wielding a knife, proclaiming that he’s the one responsible for a murder that occurred more than 10 years ago. He confesses to his sins because “someone is watching him,†and that person is threatening to expose his wrongdoings to his wife and daughter. This puts the prosecutor who convicted the wrong person in a bad light, especially when the media is on a tight watch. Enter Jang Do Han (Kim Young Kwang), a budding prosecutor whose senior was the one who did the mistaken prosecution. He does everything he can to disrupt the investigation and ultimately keep his and his senior’s reputation intact.

Meanwhile, Jo Su Ji gets entangled in her job, which makes her break promises to be with her daughter, Yuna. An unfortunate accident happens to Yuna, but is it really an accident? Su Ji employs the help of Kim Eun Joong (Kim Tae Hoon), a righteous prosecutor who is obviously in love with her, to find out.

Elsewhere, two mysterious characters, Seo Bo Mi and Gong Kyung Soo (played by Kim Seul Gi and Key), are hacking a computer system for reasons we don’t know, but it seems they have the key to information that can shed light on unsolved and difficult crimes.

Cast
Fact: Lee Si Young is a title-winning amateur boxer who represented Korea in the sport. She means business, and an action crime thriller is right up her alley. It’s amazing how she can play feminine roles and switch to tough femme fatale characters with such ease. She’s perfect for her character Jo Su Ji, a lonely detective who does overnight stakeouts and runs after criminals so she can make the world a safer place for her daughter. She doesn’t have a husband, and judging by her devil-may-care attitude, it seems like she has no plans of dating anyone at all.

Kim Young Kwang always plays the composed, level-headed, handsome, and princely characters, but this time, there’s a lot about him that’s not what it seems. He, in the role of Jang Do Han, is part silly, part arrogant, part smart, and a whole lot of good looks, of course. He’s a prodigy prosecutor who basically didn’t finish school but passed every qualification exam with flying colors. He’s known as the man who came from nothing and rose to the top. With his fancy car, tailored suit, and expensive molecular $400 gourmet meals, he’s a really good catch. He’s got it all, and he’s social media savvy, too! But behind his alluring exterior lies a deep secret (don’t they always?) and a hidden agenda. It’s great to see him get out of his romantic drama roles and try something a bit different.

Though Kim Tae Hoon is known for playing nefarious and serious characters, this time he plays the good guy — too good in fact. He’s a prosecutor who follows and does everything by the book. But there’s one thing that makes him fumble: Jo Su Ji, who’s completely clueless about his one-sided love.

Key’s and Kim Seul Gi’s characters are so far the most intriguing ones. Key is a genius hacker, while Seul Gi is a “shut in†(a person who has a social disorder and has a fear of going out of the house) who navigates the world through CCTV cameras. And yes, they wear a LOT of hoodies. How they will interact with the other characters is something we can all look forward to.

Lead Characters
When it comes to the interactions between Su Ji (Lee Si Young) and Jang Do Han (Kim Young Kwang), it’s going to be a cat-and-mouse relationship for sure. They couldn’t be any more different. Su Ji is the hardworking, practical mom whose every minute is valuable, while Do Han is the prosecutor who has a lot of time on his hands to make a flat lay of his expensive meals and brag about it on Instagram. He is all about pretenses, and she is no-nonsense. But, as in most K-dramas, opposites attract, although if it involves injustice, we can’t be sure.

Final Thoughts
This drama has a lot of tough competition, especially with “Circle†and “Fight My Way†also debuting, but it shows promise. So far it’s been fast-paced, introducing characters quickly and diving into individual stories as the overall picture unfolds. The characters haven’t gotten together yet, but when they do, it will be interesting to see their dynamic and how they pull off solving crimes; the drama’s vigilante crew setup alone sets this one apart from the others, making it a must-watch — at least for the time being.

thanks for the subs im gonna watch it soon hurrplz.png

I believe this guy called priest or something, he might be her husband/ex

I don't think so. After watching this episode it seems like Dohan's the leader and if the priest actually was Sooji's ex/Yuna's father I don't think he would allow Dohan to use her for his plans. During the confessional scene it seemed like the priest never even knew her before Dohan decided to get her involved with the lookout crew so he could take down the chief prosecutor.

Ratings rose a little
