Did you ever do a low-carb diet?

Been trying to eat a lot more fruits and veggies and my carb intake has drastically decreased. Now I'm thinking of cutting carbs entirely unless it's whole grains. Dod you ever do a low-carb diet? What did it consist of? Was it effective?

Honestly you shouldn't go to extreme measures that you won't be able to keep up with forever. If you break them some day it's all gonna get back + more.

I mean what's wrong with eating properly lol

Switching for 12 grain bread instead of white bread for my avocado toast ain't bad at all

I did temporarily. I like carbs too much, so I didn't cut them out too long.

I ate maybe 1 cup of rice/minimal bread, mainly fish/meat/veggies/fruit.

I chose veggie carbs(sweet potato, etc) over pasta, rice, bread, etc.

okay an expert here coming your way

i've been through all sorts of diets which ended up screwing with my metabolism and health so then i started seeing a nutritionist who actually explained to me you can eat anything, depends on how and the amount.

your body needs carbs, because carbs are the energy source of your body, so cutting down on them wouldn't do you good. instead, you need to switch to good carbs - for example, instead of white bread, switch to whole wheat bread, etc.

nowadays you can find whole wheat anything, even pasta. it also has fibers in it which helps your metabolism. don't give up on anything, just switch it for better things!

Carbs are an important energy source for your body. There are some organs in the body that rely on carb energy sources rather than fat and protein sources, for example the brain. Carb depletion can be bad for other organs, for example the kidneys can undergo a diuretic effect when it is forced to use fats as energy instead of carbs.

The key is using whole grains and complex carb sources. If you are concerned about GI profiles of food, you can reduce the GI profile of carbs by combining them with fats.

You shouldn't cut carbs entirely. Fat, proteins and carbohydrates provide energy but carbs are the ones who are assimilated fastest by the body (so they provide energy the fastest) so it would be a bad idea to maintain your calories intake solely on proteins and/or fat. There are some diets that can consist on a very low carbohydrate intake but those are something temporary and in special circumstances that most of the time follow a more normal and balanced diet.

Overall it needs to adjust to your daily routine and the amount of activity you perform, if you go to low you're going to feel tired and sleepy all the time.
