4 times groups released great music without some of their members

(in my personal opinion)

I always though that Winner was an interesting group, but their songs never appealed to me much, so after Nam Taehyun left and winner released

(feat. Fifth Harmony) and Fool, I was pleasantly surprised that both songs are great and (in my personal opinion) better than all their previous title tracks. While loyal fans may be unhappy with the change of sound, to me it was a great find. Meanwhile Nam Taehyun's band South Club seems to be shaping up pretty nicely so far, I'm looking forward to what kind of music they'll release.

f(x) were on a roll with

and
when Sulli decided to leave. Fortunately they didn't suffer a drop in quality but rather released one of their best songs, their best MV,
and possibly the coolest teasers in kpop ever. Sulli is meanwhile enjoying her life like a queen she is.

Following JYJ's departure and a short depression Changmin became a gym rat, found joy in stripping and finally learned how to dance, Yunho learned to chill and SM decided to go all badass and release one of the most epic comebacks in kpop that features hotness, leather, some ugly suits and powerful choreography and alludes to BDSM, UST and all sorts of other pleasant 18+ things. The release was album was followed by

repackage that slays kpop till this day. Return of the kings indeed.

Just recently EXID saved kpop with their new album Eclipse that transcends space and time and serves title-track quality for every song. Solji is currently recovering from an illness and hopefully will join EXID soon in good health and will slay us with her beautiful vocals.

What are your favorite releases?

Thank you for giving WINNER a chance! It's extremely hard for the old fans because Taehyun did a great job as both vocalist and composer.

I might be biased, but I also love the two tittle tracks.. It's their first time releasing music as four, so hopefully better and better releases in the future.. rlytearpls.png rlytearpls.png rlytearpls.png rlytearpls.png

i liked winner's old songs better

Which is natural since you're an old fan. )

Plz don't be sad Hyunseung

LMAO

Their rookie release was solid. Not my cup if tea though. I liked Midnight and Beautiful night the most out of all their songs that I heard, but their fans did not seemed fond of them.

I considered adding Lion heart since I love it, but Party was tragic so I decided not to.

On the contrary, I think it's the general public that doesn't like Midnight and Beautiful Night. Most fans I know loved them, especially Midnight!! Both songs are still my top faves!! ahmagahplz.png

Oh, perhaps I misunderstood that point. Also It's Not Me is such a great song.

Isn't Exid the only one that counts out of OP's examples.  If they're out of the group they aren't members anymore.  You might as well say that about any group that has members leave their lineup (if you like the music, of course).

"Without some of their members" means that members either can't join the group for whatever reason or left the group altogether.

The former is relatively rare, but members leaving the group altogether is pretty common.  Sometimes there are member replacements, but not always.  Exid had members leave the group altogether after their debut.  After School had various members leave the group altogether pretty early on in their career.  WG had members replaced, then others leave without real replacement (even if SunMi came back).  Kara had an early member departure that was replaced by 2 new members, then 2 members left after contract renewal to be replaced by 1.  Dal Shabet had an early member depart (with replacement), and then a fairly stable lineup, and then there were non-renewals and they have a smaller lineup now.  GsD had some member departures with replacements early in their career, then a fairly stable lineup, then an additional departure to arrive at their current lineup.  Groups like Brave Girls and RaNia have had their entire debut lineup leave.  etc.

It doesn't matter, it's just a discussion thread, no need to elaborate so much.

But you made me think Dal Shabet had great music after loosing members.

I agree with Highlight, f(x) and TVXQ! Edit: I forgot Suju and WG since it's a no brainer, but just as the others :o

But I don't agree with SNSD (they lost me at Lion Heart) and Exid. They still do okay music, but I'm not convinced.

I don't know much about Winner and OhMyGirl so I won't give an opinion on it.

all wonder girls tracks

They had so many member changes, so probably half of their discography can be described as "great music without some of heir members".  laugh.png

But I always loved their music, it's really good.

OMG is lacking one member right now.

I liked Cupid and Closer was a masterpiece and I wanted to stan them, but then all songs they released afterwards disappointed me. ohdearplz.png  I hope JinE will recover fully.

How about you stop nitpicking and just enjoy the music? smile.png

This song is so addictive. I had it on repeat for a while after it was released.
