  • You’d think that it’s only like that if you’re a studentã…‹ã…‹ but I’m 30 now and it’s the sameã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ sleep, wake up, work, home, go on the phone for a bit, sleep, wakeup

  • I don’t feel like I’m living every day, I just feel like I’m enduring through the day. The days are always the same so they all just feel connected

  • I’m seriously doubting if I’ll ever be happy in the futureã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ when people say that right now are my happiest days, I just think that life is too hard

  • I know that you’re sharing this in the teens stories as a high schooler but what’s up with people saying that office work is harder? You think that because you have it hard as an office worker, high schoolers don’t have it hard?

  • You’re fine. Anyways, the high school days are the best. You still have a dream, your parents give you food and allowances and you will be done after 3 years. When you enter the work life, you will be doing it for life. Whether it’s housing or money, you will have to take care of everything.

  • I f*cking agree. When the sun rises, I’m going out and when it sets, I come back. I seriously don’t know what I’m doing

this is honestly just depressing

I know it's not quite as tough in the US but this is one of the reasons I homeschool my kids. My 16 yr old is sitting outside in our orchard drinking tea and reading Up From Slavery. My 15 yr old is walking a neighbour girl home and will sit with her for a bit until her older sister gets home so she wont be alone. My 13 yr old son is riding his bike, and my 10 yr old and 6 yr old are out playing with plants they picked from the yard.

Did I mention schoolwork? Nope, because that's not a huge focus. My goal is giving them a well-rounded life experience, providing them with time to be themselves and giving them the tools they need to learn and grow. The main experience of childhood should not be schoolwork in the same way that working for money shouldn't be the main experience of adulthood.

(For the record, my 16 yr old is also taking college courses at the local community college so she will have classroom experience before she starts going full time.)

this is exactly the reason why I left my Law major

and enter an art school

you should do what you love

it's your life you're the one that will live trough it

This sorta motivates/inspires me to go for what I love. I am also leaving my computer engineering major for animation or digital communication and media but so anxious cos my parents don't know yet. Gonna tell them only after I pass the 2nd exam. They would eventually support me but "atleast finish this degree" preaching and the ones from family members  I don't wanna hear lol

haha I did the same thing but worse

I left my major and applied for the school

my sister is actually the one who spilled the beans

and my mom got really mad she almost disowned me over the phone

and I got things like "you're ruining your life" "you have no consideration for everything we've done for you"

and the infamous "at least get a degree first" it was really hard but I didn't care

and I was right for doing so because my life may not be perfect right now

but I'm feeling so much better and I've learn so much too

like I said and it's gonna sound so cliché but it's true

it's your life damn it, no one else will suffer through your choices

like yourself, you should live your own and a life that someone else chose for you

so if you feel like this is what you want

go for it and give a 100% I assure you, you won't regret it

Let's look at the positive side of things. Most of you have friends at school and you're making strides towards the future even if you're not sure what you want to do just by being there. Also, you probably have your parents to support you and be there for you even if you don't get along with them. And you don't necessarily have to get an office job or a job you hate.

I'm glad you are loving what you are doing. Hope your mum is alright with your decision now. Thank you for your advice, I will definitely go for it and try to tell my parents at a good time^^

Yeah, that sounds like my life when I was majoring in aerospace engineering. I was miserable and never did anything for myself. One day, I went to volunteer teach at an elementary school and I loved it, so I switched to an education major. I'm way more happy now, working with kids.
