We got used to it, he has got freedom to choose to appeal to Chinese, I don't like that, but that's his choice. They didn't want the boycott in China but now he faced the anger from his hometown. There is no win win situation, he has to pick side, whatever less damage to his career. Just like Nordstrom got tough situation with the Trump's daughter brand. They faced boycott either way, so they picked the less damage one. It's not really a fight "between" anyone. It's the PRC forcing their agenda onto the people of Taiwan. You can see this EVERYWHERE: At the olympics, at the UN, in general trade deals and issues of political recognition. Anyone who cannot see this or refuses to understand that it's not much of a two-way battle at this point has to be willfully ignorant. Until a proper settlement is reached, people from Taiwan should be free to say they're from Taiwan and leave it at that. As of now it's the equivalent of North Korea pressuring people from the ROK to say they're from the DPRK. And this poor kid was obviously nervous and knew the repercussions of not saying China's preferred answer. We've already seen how it is and anyone who keeps up with global politics knows it can get a lot worse than what the average person has even seen.
