Would you go out with someone who hardly spoke English?

I wouldn't, because communication plays a large role in my relationships between people in general

But if you were to work together to increase his understanding in english together, it could really strengthen the bond between you two. But it might take time.

I was asked on a date by a german guy and we barely speak the same language. He's really cute though so idk what to do

No

this is crazy.

if you can't understand each other, it might be fine in the short term but long term you are gonna end up having so much communication problems that you can't even explain

tell the guy to learn english or the other way around if u really like the person tbh

otherwise can fuck but no date

I speak average Korean for a non-native and passably Japanese so I could consider dating people who speak those languages. I would likely improve super fast too so why not. If it were a Thai or Swedish guy who doesn't speak English then nope. At least I need to know the guy's language even if he doesn't speak English. I can't date someone who doesn't speak my language and if I don't speak his.

I would, since English isn't my first language too

as long as he makes comfortable, have similar interest, i think somehow we'll be able communicate to each other? either his english will slowly improved or i start learning his language

I had a friend to whom it happened. Neither of them were speaking the same language and still tried together. Everything was fine at the beginning, they were trying really hard to communicate with each other. And the more they knew how to speak the same language the more dull they relationship became, they had struggle communicating even though they were speaking the same language.

So, yeah, I don't think communication is only about the language you speak but how about you actually communicate with the one you're in a relationship. It's all about the efforts you put in.

I would say, give it a try, it won't hurt (well, maybe a little)!
