Eli's wife opens up about the struggles she faced being pregnant with an idol's baby

Article: Eli's wife sobs in revealing, "I had to keep my pregnancy a secret, checked that the baby was alive through pregnancy tests"

Source: Sports Chosun via Nate

"I had to keep our marriage and my pregnancy a secret in case it negatively affected my husband who's an idol. Nobody had to know. I couldn't go to the obgyn so I couldn't get an ultrasound and had to self-diagnose myself and the baby's wellbeing through pregnancy tests. I was in such poor health at the time that there were a lot of dangerous moments. I was so scared that something was going to happen to the baby. I guess my husband realized how I was feeling because he then revealed our marriage and pregnancy on SNS while I was sleeping."

-

1. [+811, -42] But why wouldn't she be able to go to an obgyn just because her husband's an idol? She herself is not an idol... She looked sad while revealing all of this but I honestly didn't understand why she had to handle it like that. It just seemed like she wanted sympathy. She's not an idol or a celebrity, she could've gone to the hospital herself, there was no reason for her not to be able to.

2. [+493, -22] Why even get pregnant so immaturely like that without even getting married? It's hard even for non-celebrities to handle situations like that..

3. [+427, -19] Regardless, you chose this life so you have to handle it...

4. [+85, -2] It's not like she's a celebrity, she could've just gone to the hospital alone and gotten a check up... she made a mountain out of a mole hill

5. [+75, -3] Every time she's on TV, she tries to get sympathy... First she talked about having to sell all her luxury bags to buy Eli a car... but in the end, all of this was her own choice. No one threatened her to sell those things or get pregnant.

6. [+67, -1] She talks like she was pregnant with the baby of some world star ã…‹ã…‹

7. [+66, -1] You can go to the obgyn alone.... what is she talking about... and you're usually required to visit once a month and then once a week in your last month

8. [+58, -1] She seems like she has no direction or planning in life in general. Last time they said that they registered their marriage without even getting permission from their parents. She's way older than Eli, I recommend that she starts planning her life out more maturely.

9. [+49, -1] She herself said their marriage was a secret so why couldn't she go to the hospital?

10. [+41, -1] I don't get why it's always the people who cause accidents who cry and act like the victims... You're the ones who decided not to use contraception, what do you want us to do about it...

11. [+36, -0] Pretty sure no one knows who U-KISS is other than Dongho anyway and Dongho was only ever known for his horrible acting too. I thought the group was already disbanded until someone told me a member was getting married.

12. [+32, -0] Pretty sure no one knows who your husband is even today ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

Wow the comments are fucked up. If she goes to obgyn and the doctor needs to know the father and if it gets out then all hell breaks loose. The girl will get shit on by these commenters and the dude will lose his job. This people are just. Smh.

Is it the law in Korea that you have to disclose the father's name? Even so, I'd risk all of that for the health of my baby. Their priorities are screwed up.

...I know people who go to the doctor without telling their husbands, boyfriends, or father-of-the-baby's name unless she's on his medical insurance or something. I don't know how things work in Korea...

Plus, hospitals are supposed to be confidential. unsure.png If they're not, the issue is with the hospital.

The both of them sound like complete dumb fucks...

Pretty sure those in the medical profession are bound to confidentiality as well...

Especially considering this:

12. [+32, -0] Pretty sure no one knows who your husband is even today ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

Like... Teen Top wasn't really ever that big in Korea as a group, let alone one of their members individually...

That's not true. Lots of Korean women have one nighters and don't know the father yet still have the baby. That's no excuse why she couldn't go to the doctor. Eli is not a top star, so idk they keep coming out with these articles like he is.

I know that, but they're married right before the guy revealed he's married and have a baby? Just because there's a patient confidentiality there's still going to be someone who will say something and then claim it a patient overheard it or something. Trust me, nurses and doctors loves to gossip too. I should know since I was a student nurse. You wouldn't believe what they say.

being 100% real no bashing, eli wasn't even big enough for all of that commotion. when the news came out i don't even think u-kiss fans cared that much. nobody was super duper shocked and everyone was congratulating. it wasn't even like she was having an exo or bts' member's baby, it was u-kiss. the group really isn't even together anymore. not going to the doctor was a dumbass decision and if something was really wrong with the baby you couldn't have gotten help for it. the wife needed a reality check

hospitals have to be confidential, she could decline not to tell the father's name, at least go to the hospital and make sure the baby's okay

I don't know the legal basis for this but plenty of people have reported issues with doctor-patient confidentiality in Korea. All I know are n expats so idk if someone thought it was important to also inform a native speaker, but in one case the school where the person in question was working as a language assistant received the info directly from the hospital. And she was not told about that beforehand but only realized it when the headmistress openly discussed her treatment with her.

tl;dr the situation in your country =/= the situation everywhere else

But yeah, given the comments, I am sure that it would have been possible for her to get a check-up without alerting the press.

she seems like such a nice person, so i hate to see mean comments about her, but at the same time, something about her just seems... off.

that being said, even if their marriage was a secret, their relationship might have been an "open" secret within the fandom, and thus she was worried that people would spread rumours if she was spotted going to an OBGYN? i don't know, i'm trying to rationalize her thought process, but maybe there is no rationalization. pregnancy hormones can make you crazy and paranoid.

i know thats why i said she can decline to say the father's name, i am sure there is a hospital out there that doesnt need a father's name for her to get the proper check up for her baby

While as other commenters have said above it is very possible some nurse or doctor can reveal the truth to the press, if I'd been here, I would prioritise my baby's health over everything else no matter what. Endangering your child's health in order to please your husband's (miniscule) fanbase of crazy fans who will throw a fit is ridiculous. What she did was so dangerous for the child and for herself.

They can't reveal what they don't know. If she didn't tell them who the father is, they would have no idea.

I've got absolutely no sympathy for her. The baby's health should be a priority and there's medical confidentiality (and it's not like Eli is super famous so there would be a high possibility of someone leaking his identity) so there's no excuse. It's like she's creating a sob story just to appear on TV shows.
