nicophos 1,660
i honestly am astounded that rappers such as chanyeol or irene are considered "bad rappers" while those at other groups or etc were considered good. im not bashing okay? so what basically makes the bad rappers bad at rapping? i read some forums and it always states that you must need to have 1. good flow 2. good lyrics 3. energy. 4. life experiences 1, 2, 3 they have those. when they rap they have the beat and flow. their pronunciation is as good as other "good rappers". and for no. 4, even some of those good rappers lived a sheltered life. so what basically makes them "bad rappers"? or is just hate? its rather unfair for people to just claim they suck as rappers when in fact they qualify and trained for it. i still dont understand why theyre branded such when they rap fine to me. Full Moon 7,229
They have those 3 requisites because they just do what they are told to and follow the instructions of how to rap in a specific song and it make it seems like they are good but you leave them without any guide and the result is usually bad (yes i will use that example) like chanyeol in unpretty rapstar but he has improved a lot tbvh and probably doesn't even need help in the slightest also most of the idol rappers dont even write their own lyrics and thats a no no for rappers One good example would be when the BTS rapline rapped with lyrics made by fans without any help or guide to begin with, they adapt the lyrics to the beat and easily pick the flow , some idol rappers would probably fail to do so (go to the min 11:44) One thing that i would like to point out, sometimes lyrics are not that important because it all comes down to delivery of those lyrics A good delivery can make even the corniest lyric sound great or make it seem like a good bar when in reality its a really simple line And if you have a shitty delivery it doesnt matter if your lyrics are so deep that you can see Adele in it, it wont work
DeeDeeDD 748
flow, lyric, versatility, and sometimes stage presence or authenticity / style idk but imo majority of kpop "rapper" reminds me of Iggy's flow maybe this can give you the comparison of good/bad rapper, even iggy's performance here is far better than most kpop rapper imo, and nicki even isn't considered as best rapper

HardWorkBeatTalent 1,096
A good rap must have great flow, diction, rhymes, punchlines and lyrical structure/theme, but if you like it, you like it, like idol rapper, they're not that good and a bit pretentious, but still have a lot of followers. Daria~ 13,886
I'm actually more astounded that you consider Irene a rapper. Does she even write her own lyrics? Can she rap without a coach in the studio?
