Do you have a negative perception of sororities/frats?

If we're talking BGLOs then not really? I'm doing research on them atm lol. The only negative I'm retaining from this project is the hazing, though illegal. I guess it depends on the Fraternity or Sorority's idealism. I don't get why they hate them but ig that's a personal issue lol.

Edit: All BGLOs (mostly the divine nine: Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Zeta Phi Beta, Sigma Gamma Rho, Omega Psi Phi, etc.. Google is interested lol) promote self-discovery, and they're almost like a sisterhood or brotherhood in a sense. All frats and sor. require a certain GPA to apply. Also, you'll be asked what you plan on bringing to the frat or sor. My overall perception of them, however, is very positive. And hazing isn't the only way to get into a frat or sor. lol. I believe it would be a good experience.

My only insight on what a sorority/frat is like, is from movies/tv so it's not very positive lol

Some of them are pretty much like what you see on tv lol. Partying, being douchy and stuff. I met some nice people but overall I try to stay away from a lot of them because they're not very nice lol

I guess my perception of frats/sororities won't change any time soon then lol. What do you think the ratio of stereotypical "as seen on tv" frats to "good/nice" frats is in general?

I've never had any experiences with sororities or frats before but two of my apartment housemates when I was in college were part of a community service-based sorority. Not every sorority/frat is about partying--there are community service-based and professional-based sororities/frats, too, and being in a professional-based sorority/frat like ones for Business majors can give you a bit of an upper advantage when it comes to finding jobs since your sorority/frat is already one big networking opportunity and jobs are all about networking these days.

Speaking solely on my experience in my school, it's pretty rare. Even like the academic ones in my school has a lot of douchebags but it might be different elsewhere since they're more focused on school stuff. So like I would say 85 percent of those in a frat are asshole. The rest are somewhere between okayish to pleasantly decent lol

even if they're not into constant partying or elaborate hazing rituals, they're essentially clubs for rich students, so I never wanted anything to do with them (and I probably don't meet the minimum income requirements anyway).

That's def a stereotype lmao

Social frats at my school have a pretty bad rep. There's been quite a few instances of rape at parties and alcohol poisoning from hazing. One kid even died a few year back from being left alone drunk as fk after a hazing ritual. I've never rushed, but a lot of my friends have and they complain about it being too expensive, time consuming, and fake. I think they go a bit overboard sometimes, but I don't think they're that bad. Tons of douchebags though, oh my god.

Professional frats are very good though and can help you get started with your career.
