you can compare produce 101 with idol school, but i feel each iteration and season of reality shows will be different; which makes them interesting and dynamic.

 

so if you see parallels between sohye and jina; or of you see parallels with natty and somi, i believe it will be different this time around. even if this was produce 101 season 3, it would be different. different and unique girls will be looked upon differently, otherwise, it would just be a rehash of the first season.

 

new storylines that will emerge will make this season unique. how the final group will debut will ultimately be different.

I agree completely, that's also why I find them interesting.  And I also understand that the show was "supposed" to be about learning with regular untrained people. So different right from concept. But it's just fun to make parallels, and honestly hard not to.

yeah they are different because the girls in this program have no agency to fall back on or in the process of debuting. so this is basically all or nothing...and from i've seen so far in the show, a lot of girls need work. 

 

i wanted to add on the parallel thing. sometimes i feel like mnet wants us to draw these parallels...basically showing similarities. as the most obvious example of sohye and jina... i feel like a lot of girls needed help but i guess this was noteworthy because jina still had trouble getting down her moves...whereas sohye did pretty well with sejeong as her mentor.

Wondering if I should just watch raws or wait for the team's subs. At the rate the subbing is going now, maybe i'll just watch raws.

for episode 1, these subs are good enough. i think the more famous subbing team is taking too much time qcing the subs...when they dont really need to.

i don't get the point in witch hunt a girl just because she can't sing or dance well.... it's very explicit that singing and dancing were not required to join this show.  They're there to train those skills not to show them. 

to me, if you are really serious about joining a show like this, you should have put a little more effort than her. you should have had some vocal lessons and taken part in some basic dancing/training programs. there's a lot of girls who hunger to be an idol and have at least taken the effort to practice and hone their skillsets. that's not to say i'm just singling out snowbaby; there's quite a lot of the girls who scored poorly in their assessments. of course maybe that's the purpose of the show...to turn girls who have a dream but couldn't catch their break into stars...i'm fine with this...however

 

unlike pinky, snowbaby doesn't really know the language...so it's like...why didn't you at least take the time to learn more of the language before entering into this show?...or maybe why didn't you go on the taiwanese variety programs to try and become a star (there's so many of those out there right now).

 

the combination of the two would be the reason why she's getting hate. it's because she lacks the effort and talent to be in the program. you can lack one...but not both.

Hi, I need help understanding some things (it's my first time watching a survival show and the subs weren't great).

 

How does the vote system works? Is it a combination between the teacher's evaluation of their skills and the viewers' votes? Can international viewers vote?

 

Also, what company will manage this group when they debut? And for how long?

however, you need a cj one membership to vote...i think only open to domestic fans.

 

then, during the show, if you live in korea, you send a text to 1099 with your idol's name to vote. each vote is equal to 10 points...and i think you are charged some won per vote.

"Each episode will have live text voting which will reflect reactions from students and viewers in real time. The show is starting to gather members to help foster the 41 students. The students’ grades will be completely determined by members’ votes.

oh btw, since it's so close to episode 3, here are the opinions of 2 people who attended the performances of each girl (just their opinions)

 

 

 

 1) Rookie

Overall - Song is hard, all young girls here, avg. 16 yrs old, no mistakes

#kim-nayeon - main vocal, not bad, seemed shy

#park-sun - WAY too skinny/too high-toned, not too much cheering

#lee-yoojeong - seemed experienced, not bad

#chu-wonhui - NOT awkward, lit on stage, has 4 younger siblings, but still awkward after perf.

#michelle-white - can't speak korean

#jeong-somi - looks a bit older than pics, avg. dance, too many loud fans

#kim-eunkyul - looks like doyeon, not bad for 05, really skinny

#baek-jiheon - qt/small face, dance was good, vocal needs work, wouldn't stop smiling, crowd went nuts

 

2) Cheer-up

Overall - pretty avg., chae cried before stage so there was delay

#shin-sia - main vocal, good high notes, a lot of fans

#lee-chaeyoung - great physicals, shoulder pretty wide, why did she cry

#song-hayoung - lit dance, lit vocals, no fans, one guy yelled her name at the end and she got so happy, kept bowing/waving at him until the exit, had sparkles under eye

#kim-eunsuh - took the shy shy shy killing part, was coughing, think she was sick

#lee-nakyung - about to cry, tiny face, looks like elris sohee, took center, very pretty

#sky - looks just like pics, fans WAY too loud, ppl were annoyed, couldn't even hear her interviews, cheerup was way too cute for her. too strong. wore bandanas

#tasha - can't speak korean #2, can't tell the age diff too much

#jenny - avg. dance, no vocal parts, prettier than expected(edited)

3) A-Choo

Overall - 8 ppl doing lovelyz so dance fit well, clothes so pretty

#lee-sian - physical is LIT, too sexy for a-choo, looks like chaeyeon, kept throwing up hearts, rly tall, took center

#roh-jisun - looked like kei, visuals wew, looks like kei #2

#snowbaby - she's a baby, can't speak korean #3, looks just like pic

#cho-yubin - smol, cute, can't remember, rly enjoying the show, what a beagle

#jo-selim - profile photographer must hate her, looks WAY better in person

#yoon-jiwoo - really pretty in person

4) Me Gustas Tu

Overall - not GF level choreo, but pretty close, dance break was lit

#seo-herin - great vocals, kept bowing to fans, took shinbi's parts (dance break center)

#natty - dance was LIT, did I mention dance was lit? smaller than pics, can't speak korean #4

#jessica-lee - took away killing part, skinny, good dance

#bae-eunyeong - great talker, she could be an MC, did the whole interview by herself

#jang-gyuri - CUTE af, top new discovery of the day for me, always smiling, anyways cute af

#park-somyeong - prettier in real life, pale, skinny, cute

#yoo-jina - so much prettier on stage, find and kill the profile photographer(edited)

5) Whistle

Overall - REAL avengers team here, surprised they did whistle over playing with fire

#park-jiwon - main vocal, visuals AF, what happened since sixteen? we will never know, did aegyo on stage

#lee-seoyeon - looks kind , visuals AF #2

#lee-haein - physicals lit, stage was lit, surprised she didn't leader nor center role, cried after stage

#lee-saerom - was leader, took killing part, pretty AF, physical AF, dance LIT, vocal LIT AF

#hong-siwoo - not enough parts #2, really skinny

Watching these dance vids... some girls got unlucky. Especially those in between verses where the music is flat. Some needed to dance to slow songs which looks less exciting to be on tv or they actualy go too sexy for tv lol. Then there are those that just follow the choreo of the kpop songs unless they change it up which actually makes an advantage.

Oh, Michelle can't speak Korean.. Didn't know that but I appreciate her, Tasha, and Snowbaby for coming on the show even tho they can't speak the language.

Also, I hope there won't be any hate with the whistle team being called "The Avengers" since that's associated with Produce 101. I know ppl are already up in arms with this show being "somewhat" like Produce 101...

i think michelle can. these are just two people who saw only 1 performance of each girl. might be making assumptions based on how they look.

 

only takeaways are how the audience reacted and if any girl did something extra.

 

they stacked whistle team with like best team and they perform an entertaining song. i think anyone who performs whistle would get good raves.

Prelim thoughts

 

 

I only saw first 30 min but jiheon got a huge boost.. I think she was 3rd at one point. Seems like Korea just loves those girls with eye smiles... Hope they realize the concepts they might be limited to though.. Herin continues to decline but like she struggled in ep 2. Didn't see enuff of her from what I saw in ep3. Surprised Natty is slowly slipping down...but I feel like it's more the strength of chaes and others popularity going up more than anything.

 

Haein looks like a good leader or knows what she's doing. Picking whistle was the right choice out if all the options performance wise though the song is hard to perform with 8 ppl.

 

Somy finally got a lot of screentime. Her personality is unique and awkward and it could be good for her popularity cuz she stands out.

 

I'm actually happy jisun held steady considering she didn't perform this episode so she has a lot of room to work with next week ^^.

 

Will watch entire ep later on to give performance thoughts. ^^
