Idk about this lol

but ima say that Natty should stop playing it safe. Her strong point is dancing, she should just use that has her advantage instead of going for this cutesy thing. And I Need U would be good choice to snatch kfans cause her rank dropped in ep.2 and I feel it will keep dropping a bit with a lot of these girl's rising in ranks.

I don't think she could freely choose. Indeed, I Need U was safest song for her. Her forte was dance and voice came in second. LUV is a song of novice level choreo thus, her forte would be buried.

I guess the slot for Not Today had filled up before she could choose, left her with rest 3 songs.

- Lion Heart was the worst choice for her, her childish visual so as her pitchy voice didn't fit.

- Tinkerbell is more upbeat and the choreo is more intricated than LUV still, another basic song. The song was not popular, maybe, she didn't know the song well.

- LUV was a popular song and she might benefit from its popularity. She wouldn't be able to show anything if she didn't get Eunji's part tho.

For who will be in the final group, it's not easy to tell because we're still very early in the show and only just getting glimpses of performances, there's still lots of things that could happen we don't know about.

As things stand, these look certain -

Hayoung (who is an all-round talent, and her cuteness is a hit)

Haein (audience knows her, strong personality & good leader that seems to have struck a chord)

Chaeyoung (personality is a real winner)

Jiheon (positive & adorable)

Then there's those have a good chance but definitely not certain -

Jiwon (pretty, strong vocals, showing her personality well, I think she'll stay high)

Natty (not done much to hold her initial attention)

Nakyung, Saerom (both rising well & have peoples' attention)

Then there's those who are on the fringes of the last couple of places -

Jina (she has the looks, not much talent but she doesn't look out of place yet due to hard work)

Seoyeon (another all-round talent, if she could bring out her personality to win people over she'd be a cert)

Various others who would rise once they have the chance to really show off their vocals, Yeonjung-style (my personal bias would be Herin, she needs to do something to gain attention though)

I agree it's still too early. We didn't see Yeonjung made the final cut in earlier episode.

How do you not realize it often is not about who "actually" did much but how much they did on screen which was decided by the PD?

boys24 is flop of the flop

this group still has chance...consider lot of visual tho , well visual can attract people join the fandom...really helps a lot like AOA->Seolhyun , ASTRO-> Eunwoo , SF9->Rowoon

But, Astro and SF9 are kinda nugu. DIA is not really a successful group despite Chaeyeon.

In my opinion, since the show flops hard, the agency the girls will debut under is a big factor to their success.

Well there seem to be open positions on FNC ... wanted a group with 11 cutted down to 10 according to rumors but have only presented 2 with a rumored 3rd

Off topic, it's said FNC's global audition was judged mainly on look, if you didn't live up to Korean beauty standard, better not waste your time going,

Spoiler for mild negativity

Mostly, I'd like more vocals. I got into it a little bit, but the girls are just capable vocalists imo. I think the viewers are choosing based on visuals and personality more so than ability, as is how these shows usually go. Capable doesn't mean that they can do especially difficult songs vocally and it definitely means that even slightly more challenging songs won't be that well done live. It worries me that there isn't a standout vocal with the company they'll sign under being unknown still and the show not doing well on its own merit. I'd bring back Sia or Nayeon and have either of them and Jiwon or Haein be an absolute shoe-in.

Visuals and vocals are how groups often break out when they're under smaller companies, and it's usually a combination of the two (see AOA with Seolhyun and Choa, rip Choa) but more often than not for the group to be successful as a whole, it's more vocal than visual. Visuals are often praised and well known regardless of how the group does (D1A, Gugu/dan, EX1D, M1ss A) whereas vocals usually draw attention to the entire group (Mama/moo, G/friend).

The current top 9 girls are likable. I'll probably be a casual fan and follow their releases + variety appearances. But without the company guarantee or the vocal ability, I can't see them doing extremely well and, unfortunately, I follow a lot of groups with that MO already lmao and some of them have better vocals than the girls on this show as well. If one of the girls I stanned prior to the show (Natty, Seoyeon, Haein, etc) get in, I'll probs still remain a casual fan and just be an individual stan for that particular member.

EDIT: Spelling rip

Did you forget Twice and Black Pink existed? Both are fairly weak vocally. Gugudan is stronger vocally.

In my opinion, skill is needed but, only an extent is required. The group is destined to flop if members can't hold a note or move on the beat but, to have a very strong vocalist to the level of Wendy or Yuju is not a must factor to be a sucessful group.

lisssie mainly covered it but as I mentioned it's the combination of lack of strong vocals + currently unknown company. I think if they end up in a good company, they'll be okay. If this was Sixteen, it would be okay for them to not be strong vocally.

However, a lot of good companies have been debuting their own girl groups lately so I think it's unlikely that any well known company is going to pick them up. There's 2-3 that I can think of that would even be in the market for trainees, but picking up a group they had no part in forming that isn't guaranteed success (as IOI was, with how popular the show was from the get go) is risky.

Your comment just basically support my argument, the agency matters more in the success of a group.

the groups you mention are outliers for several reasons: big 3, huge sunbae fandoms supporting them, uniqueness, and the fact that they have the resources to be promoted very well.

groups who aren't coming from the big 3 or even an established company have a hard time getting popular if they don't have the talent to back themselves up. sure there are insanely talented groups who flop, but there are also insanely talented groups from unknown companies who get extremely popular. strong talent, particularly strong vocals because idols are singers, are important to groups who are coming from smaller companies and are relatively unknown. it may not be a must have, but it surely makes things a lot easier for them.

How about Girl's Day then? They are from a small agency and, despite Minah being good, the group overall is not strong vocally and is known as such. EXID is a group of strong average vocal skill but, that surely isn't what make the group relevant.

What are insanely talented groups from unknown companies who get extremely popular? I can only think of 1 highly talented group that is very popular, Mamamoo, whereas, there are multiple flop talented groups from unknown agencies. Uji of disbanded flop Besties was 1 of best idol vocalist.

Idols aren't solely singers, they are mainly entertainers. They may not have advanced skill but, it's ok if they're entertaining to the public.

The group of fairly weak voice can veil its weakness with the right song selection but, how to veil the look?

In my opinion, all strong candidates for top 9 are strong enough talent and look wise. I don't know much about their personality and humor which are vital factors to succeed. What else they need are luck, nice song, nice and consistent promotion.

I mean, the 2 non-Big3 top GGs right now both became popular because of their talents. Sure, GF's viral video helped 'put them on the map', but they eventually became known for their choreo/dancing and Mamamoo for their vocals/stage presence.

EXID got popular bc of Hani's fancam, sure, but even then Solji and LE are the backbone of the group and they probably wouldn't have lasted this long still being popular without them. Solji in particular, cmiiw, got quite a boost after King of Mask Singer and stuff like that and LE is just... well, what would EXID's sound even be without her?

Then there's also Apink with Eunji who from what I see, seems to be one of, if not the most popular/well known member, and obviously she's insanely talented. Or SISTAR with Hyorin.

I feel like pretty much every popular GG from a small/medium agency has at least that one member, if not the group itself, who became popular for their talent.

Sure, viral videos happen and the public can just randomly fall in love with any one girl for whatever reason but those are things more or less out of their control. Getting popular through their talent is something that they can actually control/work around beforehand.

The discussion remind me of an interview of BNK48's mentor/ voice trainer (BNK48 is Thai sister group of AKB48). He said the group's popularity based mainly on the youthfulness and character of the member but, their post graduate career relied on their skill as singer/ actor, or whatever fields in the entertainment industry they wanted to pursue. He even outright said the voice could be easily edited by computer nowadays.

Natty, wonhee and sia to possibly go to WM Ent? Natty's mom, Wonhee and Sia followed IG account for WM Ent's trainees.

WM Ent is the house of B1A4 and Oh My Girl. Chaeyeon from Sixteen (Chaeryeong's sister) is a trainee of this agency.

If Wonhee and SIa didn't join this agency, someone from the show that close to them must have joined.

Well first, Haein is probably the second best dancer in the likely group to Hayoung.

Lol. Hella big NO. Neither her voice is that great to be needed for it. (I don't think the group needs a highly skilled vocalist to begin with.)

At first, I thought her look and character might not blend into the concept of the group. But, in second thought, what some sees as her weakness indeed is a forte.

She kinda reminded me of a member of BNK48, Kaew, the oldest member. She isn't so good in either dancing or singing, neither she is very pretty. Her typical classical musician character sticks out from the rest of the group and does not go along so well with the group's utter bubble pop style. (She actually was a piano teacher.) Definitely, she is not a very popular member of the group yet, she can reel in sizable amount of fans who do not like bubbly cute girls (of which the group filled with), who won't care for the group without her. And, some of these fans happen to be celebs (and aged). She has most celeb fans and that makes up with its smaller size.

Aside from Haein, who else can be the mature no-aegyo woman of the group?

I can't see why her lack of leadership is a problem? If she lacks, make Hayoung the leader then, make her Lee Sooman (senior advisor) of the group while Hayoung is Kim Youngmin (ceo) and it'll be no problem.

Personally, I won't care if Haein can or cannot make it.

Personally, I wan't Jiheon out and Gyuri in. Both have similar smiles and vibes but, Gyuri is elder and clearly more skilled. Also, I prefer Gyuri's visual.

Guys I have also realized the last time Sian, Natty, and Sky was active on instagram was around the same time (10/8-10/13)

I don't follow Haein, Eunyoung, or Yuri to see when was the last time they were but it just seems like the Pledis theory could be true

I don't know when were last times they active but they all privatized their IG accounts around the same time.
