Make it as diverse or as close as the character's role/appearance as you can or not is up to you, but make it believable. 1995 Mortal Kombat If I had my way, it be less CGI (only when needed) and more on the background/setting and costumes, and props. Johnny Huang as Liu Kang (Or Eddie Peng as Liu Kang. I want Johnny to meet his favorite Chinese Male actor, so I will cast him. Plus, he knows BJJ and he's fit, training to fight will be easy for him. Although, he's tall, I guess that's fine, until he fights with Deng Chao, though. Honorable Mentions: Steve Yeun, Ludi Lin, and for shits and giggles, Kento Yamazaki) Vengo Gao as Lord Raiden (Can't think of anyone else, .) Deng Chao/Takeshi Kaneshiro/Eddie Peng as Shang Tsung Kaneshi has a more of looking like a better fighter than Deng Chao because of their heights. Kuroki Meisa/Ni Ni as Kitana Dave Franco/Ezra Miller/Avan Jogia as Johnny Cage (Honorable Mentions: Ian Somerhalder, Jared Padelecki, Keith Powers, Kylie Bunbury/Zoe Kravitz as Sonya Blade (Honorable Mentions: Lydia Wilson, Natalia Vodianova, Emma Stone, Felicity Jones, Emilia Clarke, Gugu Mbatha-Raw Matt Smith/David Tenant/Takeru Satoh as Reptile, and Yang Yang/Won Bin/Hyun Bin/ Sub-Zero, and Scorpion (Honorable Mentions of all three roles as they're somewhat interchangble imo: Iwan Rheon, Nathan Stewart/Jin Akanishi/Haruma Miura and for shits and giggles MatsuJun and KentoYama. They can also make new characters too so they'd have more people to fight.
