So I have been a fan of Lovelyz since their debut. I have listen to all their songs (including b tracks), watched their variety appearances, and monitored their career throughout their 2 1/2 career.

What I have believed in since Candy Jelly Love is that Lovelyz could be bigger if Mijoo was pushed more as an "it girl."

The girl has looks, variety skills, personality, great body, and dance skills.

I honestly thought Pann was going to blow up with how beautiful Mijoo looks with her blonde hair this comeback!!!!

Mijoo reminds me so much of Girl's Day Yura and AOA's Seolhyun by having an amazing face and body.

Woolim for the most part hasn't pushed any particular member in Lovelyz other than Kei. Kei is cute and has a sweet voice (this isn't a bash against her) but hasn't really stuck with Korea. Woolim keeps pushing her but while people recognize her charms, aeygo, and vocal talent, Kei really hasn't hit it big.

When I mentioned how Woolim should promote Mijoo more (I think during Hi promotions) some Lovelinus said Woolim got mad at me saying how Woolim was focusing on making the group popular not specific members.

Thats great and all but I feel like its time that Woolim starts investing in one member (Mijoo) and pushing her in the public for more people becoming interested in Lovelyz. Wow and Destiny weren't strong digitally or publicly for Lovelyz. Don't get me wrong they have a strong fandom and their physicals were good but Lovelyz's public recognition didn't exact improve as much as expected.

Do you agree that Woolim should promote Mijoo more to make Lovelyz more popular?

Tl/dr Woolim needs to do more with Mijoo already.

isn't she the visual? I thought she was

But yeah, promote her, and make lovelyz popular <3333

When they debuted Jiae was labeled the visual along with Kei.

Woolim hasn't pushed Jiae has the visual for Lovelyz in a long time now. Lately its been Mijoo and Jisoo (with a little Yein in the mix).

Mijoo is gorgeous, and I personally love her, but she is a complete wild card. She's definitely good at variety, but she lets loose a little TOO much, and that may or may not cause possible problems in the future.

It really depends. Most IT girls have been the modest, kind, girl-next-door type. Which is why selling Kei seemed smart at the time.

I don't think it's Woollim pushing anything with them. Mijoo and Jisoo got attention on their own due to their beauty and so they get mentioned now.

i don't know

Mijoo is hella gorgeous but personality wise she's a pretty wild person

comparing to other it-girls that is (like Yoona, Sohee, Suzy, Seolhyun, Hyeri, Hani...)

i honestly don't know

i feel like pushing Kei was a good move/is a good move because Kei is known/pretty popular, but having 1 pretty popular girl isn't enough because Woollim kinda sucks at promoting the group as a whole so while people know Kei they don't know lovelyz

i think the key is to make people who likes Kei/or any girl stans the group & not just the girl.

Kei should have been pushed to the hilt. She was up on popularity rankings and now we don't hear of her at all.

Mijoo is attractive, but she is similar in looks to Cathy with a too large mouth - I don't find that style soft or girly pretty, which is seemingly Korea's preference. She somehow lacks that feminine allure. Her, Sowon etc. are the type who are beautiful to us but I don't think would gain top visual status in Korea.

If Jisoo didn't get into that scandal...she had the best chance. :(

Woollim should push Jisoo and Mijoo more as their variety representative. That duo has so much potentials just like Kei and Sujeong duo for music related things but the problem is woollim always late in everything. I hope they realised it asap

She actually reminds me of Elkie from CLC.  Both super pretty, but don't have that soft, "visual" type of look that Korea goes for.  I'm sure if she came to the US, people would think she was very attractive because she has really striking features.

I don't know why she's not more popular though.  She has an outgoing personality, but not as crazy as Hani, who everyone loves.  I do like Jisoo too, the scandal definitely screwed things over for her back then though.

I also want then to push her for more photoshoots and cameos. But I'm not sure if they will risk to push her in variety shows alone cuz she lose the control too easily and this may bring a not good view for the group. I only want Woollim to promote the girls wisely

Woollim should promoted the girls wisely. Send the right members to the right shows. Lovelyz has a very potential variety duo like Mijoo and Jisoo. They can send Baby Soul or Jin to Masked Singer. And find an acting gig for Jiae. But that's Woollim, so i don't put my hope in them ohdearplz.png

This!

I can't agree more

I originally thought that mijoo was the visual for the group and I believe she has potential to bring more people to the group... but to put everything on her alone seems like a bad idea, she sometimes goes a little too far and I don't think she's the best representation for the group overall if you had to pick one specific member. Like... if somebody watched one of her dance stages like the one with Yooa and Seulgi and them or her recent variety show appearance where she went wild and danced on the floor then people who like that would probably go to a lovelyz video and watch and think "... what is this?"... Lovelyz typically has a soft and sweet image and Mijoo is able to fit into that well enough when with the group but when the spotlight is on her she can be a little bit... not that... which is fine and great not everyone has to be girly and sweet like Kei and Sujeong but if the group has that image then it's probably best to pick one of the members who can best represent those traits to the public...

I feel like the safest and wisest choices are Kei, Jiae, Jisoo, and Yein if you had to pick one specific member to push... honestly they have pushed Kei the most out of any of them... but even then they didn't really push her all that far compared to other idols so basically it all comes down to whateve9r the company wants to do because the girls all have the ability to bring in fans but if woollim does not want to promote them harder or give them promotions/songs/activities that the public would want to see more then all of the talent and beauty they have will go to waste (not really as i am here to appreciate both but they cannot survive on me supporting them alone i am not rich omg!!! : ( )

I don't know why Jiae wasn't pushed more after YAMO... a lot of people knew her through that program and a couple of other appearances she made on TV. She released a single that at least peaked in the top 100... and also showed that even if she's not strong vocally she's at least able to carry a whole song by herself. Then when they debuted she got to half sing half talk one single line twice... they for some reason decided to push Sujeong who was definitely one of the better performers at the time and the most confident speaker... but the public was more likely to recognize Jiae than Sujeong... and if confidence was the main factor then they should've pushed Kei from the very beginning because she definitely had the charm and appeal to bring in a large audience. I also don't know why they didn't promote more of the members more pre-debut, the only three who got anything were Jiae, Baby Soul, and Jin... familiarizing everyone with their faces before debuting them would have been smart...

Jisoo also could have been promoted more but the whole scandal really ruined that... though, even without the scandal Jisoo only got one part in Candy Jelly Love and was otherwise pushed to the back like she usually is anyway so I'm not really sure what difference it would have made it she was able to promote with them. Lovelyz didn't have great variety skills when they debuted but i feel like out of anyone if they promoted Jisoo and Mijoo more during their debut for variety then that also would have been a good idea... again they couldn't promote Jisoo which is unfortunate, who knows if that was their plan initially...

I just remember them constantly pushing Sujeong when the group first debuted... and speaking of debut, maybe they picked the wrong song for debut... personally I love Candy Jelly Love but it did very little to make an impression with many people, I feel like maybe going with Goodnight Like Yesterday as their official debut track would have been smarter since that song did better... but that song wasn't produced by Yoon Sang or anyone in One Piece so it would've broken the tradition of their collaborating for title songs before it started. Hmmmmm...

They also could have promoted Lovelyz better during Ah-Choo since that's when everything blew up for them... but then again that song was a sleeper hit so the only thing i can think of that would've improved it better maybe would have been timing...? I remember at the time Twice recently debuted and Red Velvet was promoting Dumb Dumb so maybe if Woollim decided to wait a little bit longer? Which brings me to my next point... timing... their timing is literally always terrible and out of anything else listed i think that might be the main reason for them not making it yet. I don't remember the competition being as harsh during CJL and Hi but after that they always came out with songs directly after a major girl group released something... or in Destiny's case at the exact same time. I do not know why Woollim insists on doing this to them all the time, if it is some kind of strategy it's not working and they need to stop.

really it seems as if there were just a lot of things that could have been done that weren't, maybe it is easy for us to sit here and criticize Woollim for how they promoted Lovelyz for the past couple of years since we do not have to deal with the finances and behind the scenes stuff that fans generally don't have to know/worry about. If it was easy making an idol group popular then i'm sure there would be a lot more successful acts...

but they are only 2.5 years into their careers... I'm not sure how long their contracts are for or how that translates to their chances of succeeding as an idol group these days (Girl's Day took over 3 years before they finally became super popular... so Lovelyz could take just as long but since then kpop has gotten more and more competitive and fast paced... so it's possible that what was 3 years then translates to less time now...) but they have gained more fans with their most recent comeback and sold over 30k physical albums after a 10 month hiatus (not really, they were still active but they weren't promoting anything new for that amount of time) so they have something to show for their hard work even if it is not very much compared to the biggest groups out there (but they're still more successful than a lot of groups out right now who can't even get an article written about them and who very very few people know about even within the kpop spectrum)... but they're also at a weird spot where they're literally right there... almost there... almost able to reach that point and they keep letting that moment slip through their fingers and it is esstremely frustrating to me as a fan who wants them to do well and continue making music together (otherwise im giving kpop up for good and you will never see me again omg!!!)... : (
