Does/did anyone else deal with chronic coughing?

I had a huge fever back in the beginning of February that lasted like a week; it was like 103 consistently but with antibiotics thankfully the fever went away. However, I've been persistently coughing for about 2 months now. Sometimes it's difficult for me to sleep and it also hurts. I did an x-ray of my chest and they said something about it being hazy and developing pneumonia but my primary doctor told me not to worry about it, gave me more antibiotic, some cough syrup. My dad gave me extra cough medication, some cough drops as well. Sometimes the cough would ease up but it's still a very consistent thing and it's starting to get on my nerves. Anyone else dealt with a similar situation?

I had such bad coughing fits in winter/when seasons changed that I quite literally coughed until I would throw up. At first, they kept saying it was a sinus infection, but after going to a specialist, they discovered it was chronic bronchitis, which was semi-induced by the fact that I was not used to such cold air (being from Florida but living in the north now) and the higher level of pollutants in the air (went from seaside/suburban to huge urban sprawl). In short, I recommend going to a pulmonologist. That doctor was the one who finally figured out what I needed. A lung specialist can give you a more specific diagnosis.

Are you getting enough rest? When I was a child I was coughing here and there softly in phases. I only noticed when I became adult and stop all cough med that I had these problems only when I was tired. That with a deviated nose septum and chronic rhinitis, I noticed I needed to make sure air enter enough my lungs so I don't cough. Well, everyone is different, but sometimes, healing from a cold isn't just meds, it's also rest. But if you have congestion, maybe you should go back to your doc to say: "hey, I can't sleep, that cough is staying, it's not normal" They may have put aside pneumonia for now, but they shouldn't ignore other possibilities.
