mistressnicey 25,196
[NEWS + COMMENTS] 140221 BEAST and Korea’s Hawkings special meeting *Note: News was only released by Cube after fans caught a short glimpse of Yoseob on the news (aired on 20th) for this event. On the 19th, BEAST participated in the graduation and matriculation ceremony for the students who are receiving rehabilitation and yet standing strong despite all the difficulties in life. The reason why these students are called ‘Korea’s Hawkings’ is because of their strong will to study despite their conditions – similar to Stephen Hawking’s desire despite suffering from Loh Gehrig for over 50 years. Doctor Choi Won-Ah from Rehabilitation Medicine of the Gangnam Severance Hospital said of the students receiving rehabilitation “They suffer from muscular disease, Loh Gehrig, spinal injuries etc. Not only do they have to use a wheelchair or just lie down in bed their whole life but they will also go through muscle atrophy and in the future, they will probably need to rely on respirator and it could endanger their lives.†BEAST represented Cube Entertainment whom for several years now have been supporting the respiratory rehabilitation centre physically (resources wise/donations) and mentally. On this day, the graduation and matriculation ceremony was of a greater significance. In addition, the patients suffering from a rare muscle and nervous system condition, their families, the medical team behind helping out these students as well as support groups were all gathered for the ceremony as well as to give hope. Yang Yoseob, Jang Hyunseung, Lee Kikwang and Yong Junhyung represented BEAST and conveyed a hopeful message to the students; brought presents for them, talked with them and thus spending an even more meaningful time together. They encouraged the friends who lived their lives proudly even while going through rehab. BEAST is currently having a tour in the 7 main cities in Japan.
