Click here to view the Tweet Click here to view the Tweet Hi, I'm Alvin Uy, and I just want you guys to know that I don't have plan on going back to Korea as of now, I'm having a really hard time with my situation and health, as you could see, Entertainments in Korea has issues with Filipino Citizens, and I'm honestly sad, depressed, pressured, sick and traumatized on how trainee life work especially when you're different, the discrimination of being a filipino in the Kpop Industry was really strong, I experienced it not just once, twice but more than that, during auditions I could feel how they treat me because I'm different, at first I just kept on thinking positive that I'm not ugly, I'm not different it's just I'm unique but I've been struggling with the situation so much with the Koreans, First I was accepted to Entertainment but everytime that they knew that I'm a pure blooded filipino they always look at me from head to toe, they look so disgusted on me because of my nationality but I kept on pursuing my dreams even though it was really hard for me, because I'm not pursuing only my dreams but for all filipino kpop fans to show that we have a chance, and make my country proud, I always did my best but they never gave me a chance to watch and prove myself. There where days that I want to die because of how they treat me, I went back to Philippines without telling anyone how sick I am and hurt because I don't want anyone to worry especially my family and friends, I was lying I'm fine, I'm ok and everything is positive, I'm really sorry for that, I just want you guys to be inspired to keep on pursuing your dreams, but right now I just want everyone to be aware how hard being a Filipino in the Kpop Industry, the worst line I ever heard is that "you philippines (filipino) has no chance to be in the kpop industry", they think of us as a trash that they could look down, that's the main reason I kept on pushing to prove, but I'm totally damaged and weak, I'm really sorry, I will leave Wave Music Entertainment because the CEO's shareholders doesn't want to invest to filipino, they don't want to sponsor me a visa because I'm a filipino, they treated me not as a human, but an instrument that they could throw after getting the things that they want, I experienced this twice being used just to gain popularity but I will not mention my 2nd entertainment, they used me because they know that they could benefit a lot from Philippines, almost all of the entertainment are the same, no more hiding, I maybe not be the ideal idol you guys want but till my last breath I will not allow any filipino kpop fan that will get hurt because of the system that they rule, they saw us as a bank not as a fan. But don't worry I know there still an entertainment that is open and good with Filipino, let's just keep on trying and pursuing, we should not lose hope, I can't stop crying because of how hurt I am now but this will make me free, and look forward even though I know I can't fix my own broken pieces. Good luck for him!

StarShapedGummy 11,380
this is how it is in the entertainment industry starting out... but once you hit it big, you have more bargaining power.

nicophos 1,660
i might get backlash for this, but i dont condone my fellow filipino's sending hate comments on that company.
hetappina 515
I am not surprised. Koreans are known for looking down at South East Asians, unless the SEA people are good looking by South Korea's standard (white skin, etc). One of the most well known SEA in K-Pop industry, Khun, is actually of Chinese descent. Kriesha, Bambam and Lisa doesn't look typically SEA either. And just read at some comment K netz posted about Lisa and how some of it were "she looks so South East Asian sometimes, ew"

yukheiswift 238
tbh i think if ur a foreigner going to a little company is the WORST decision. the Big 3 would definitely be the way to go because both sides have lots to bargain (company's image vs idol's success) and it would benefit you more despite the tougher competition

lolalala 1,782
I don't mean this to offend anyone. But I thought that it's pretty obvious that Koreans have a thing against south east Asians. The real reason why these companies hire Japanese/Chinese/Thai trainees is to attract attention from those countries. And it works. Got7 gets a ton of money from Thailand. Twice is getting popular in Japan and EXO is huge in China. The thing is that most of these Chinese/Japanese/Thais can pass for being Korean. I think Lisa's one of the few exceptions, since she doesn't look Korean at all but still managed to debut, but I'm sure that she faced a lot of discrimination too. Sometimes I feel like Lisa must have had a really hard trainee life, being the only Thai. But her talent and determination got her this far. I guess smaller companies like his, must be even worse than the big ones. But at the end of the day,the kpop industry is still all about money. It's hard for a Korean to succeed in it, it'll be a hundred times harder for a non-korean.

dlover2005 1,310
Well, it doesn't surprised me a bit. Even the Korean trainees themselves are having it hard. Alvin's ethnicity makes it even more challenging. The road to Kpop does not filled with flowers. Some will make it. While others may not. It's a risk that a person has to take to this journey. The thing is even if Japanese and Chinese looks different from Korean, the standard of beauty is still similar. An example, is Chinese/Japanese/Korean preference for pale skin since many years ago.
