Do you watch Hong Kong dramas?

Hong Kong (cantonese) dramas are probably watched the least compared to CH/TW dramas. I'm curious as to how many people here watch it though. Because there are some sites that sub HK dramas.

I've been watching them since I was little and I can tell that the quality of the shows have dropped a lot since then.

Do you watch them? Do you like them?

are they the ones with dubbing? unsure.png

They dub dramas from other countries, but they have their own dramas too...

U mean TVB dramas? They are aired all the times in my country. Not my fav thou, cuz the story/filming/background.. everything looks like 80s dramas ilikeitplz.png

If people watch HK dramas, most of the time they're TVB dramas (because at the time they were the only good ones lol). But there's also AsiaTV and some other HK channel that have cantonese dramas.

You know, the ones where the actors act, then later they get voice actors with higher voices and stuff to record over everybody in the same language.

I know what dubbing is..but I mean they only do that with other countries' dramas.

If they do their own dramas, it's normal...no dubbing necessary.

TVB dramas have gotten progressively worse. Heart of Greed and Triumph in the Skies era was when I truly enjoyed them. Now it's just bad.

That's so true....I used to love them when I was little. And it's not only because of the stories either...all the good actors and actresses are leaving and going to China warstarplz.png warstarplz.png

And the new actors just aren't up to par...they basically use the candidates from Mr/Ms Hong Kong to become actors now...and some of them just aren't cut out for it/don't have enough experience.

That or they just reuse the same actor over and over again (and that's not an exaggeration...)

Why is what you're saying so confusing to me? wthplz.png  Are Hong Kong dramas the ones with the same-language dubbing? If so, I've tried to watch them in the past, but it's hard because the mouths and the words and everything don't add up. If they aren't the ones that traditionally dub, which place is it that does that?

I'm not sure...but I know they don't dub their dramas in the same language they're already speaking in...the only times dubbing is necessary is if one of the actors is from China and they can't speak Cantonese and they have to dub over them, or if one of the actors is sick. But typically, there isn't any dubbing.

Oh, thanks. Then I guess I haven't watched a Hong Kong drama. ohbi.png

I grew up watching dramas from TVB, I watched a lot of their dramas from 80's and early 90's (when their quality is at it's best), but it sad to see it's going downhill after that.

I was planning on watching Destination Nowhere because Kevin is in it...haven't had the time to watch it yet though.

I didn't watch Tiger Mom Blues because it didn't look that good but I do like Sharon so maybe I'll give it a try.
