If you read the bible there are many verses that can prove that there is life after death. It's either hell or heaven. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. The philosophy around time and consciousness both gets into some weird and unintuitive things; time itself doesn't necessarily move from a beginning to an end except in our perception of it, and to acknowledge that position doesn't require any sort of metaphysical mysticism such as that which comes with ideas of souls or afterlife. Of course, one won't remember one's current life and will be afraid of death all over again even if such recurrence does occur, so I don't know if it does any good, except maybe as intellectual consolation in this particular life. Our faculties are pretty woeful for comprehending any the structure of the world beyond the very superficial and incidental, though, so who knows anyway. Nobody will ever know until they die and by that time you can't tell anyone anyways...so we'll all just stay ignorant as to the reality of it all. There is no proof here on Earth that tells whether there is life after death and one cannot trust the Bible (please don't hate me for saying this) since it was written by man, for man, and translated from a language that no longer exists. Too many inconsistencies. Having said that...I've a firm belief that spirits and ghosts exist, but that doesn't tell me anything since one doesn't know if these spirits and ghosts were once living, breathing humans.
