The condition of WEIBO after HALLYU BAN

Rene.

Recommended Posts

So you know how the THAAD has affected Hallyu essentially banning it in China. I didn't realise that Cnetz was going to be so serious about implementing it.

Like random Cnetz are totally bullying TF out of anyone who posts anything about  K celebs,

and the Cfans are totally laying low, there are no updates rn.

Y'all stay away from the Kent bars for now, its the same situation for all of the BARS.

And these comments make NATE seem positive

There was a notice circulating in BAIDU Lee jong Suk Bar(rough trans)

Announcement on Weibo

Due to the recent sensitive situation, not suitable for promotional activities.
To avoid unnecessary criticism, the Working Group appealed to all of you:

do not talk about his shows
stay low because the hate is strong
Avoid bringing Lee in any sensitive discussions(or any discussions for that matter)

So basically they are talking shit about Kcelebs all the time but we can't defend or say anything nice about them

Smh at this pettinessidontthinksobetchplz.png .

And outside WEIBO, THAAD has led to closing down LOTTE stores, cancellation of more than half of Mainland  China- Jeju flights, recently a cruise ship with over 3000 passengers docked in Jeju and every single passenger refused to disembark  leaving the Korean business empty-handed.

Not going into the intricacies of politics, but its really wrong to prevent or ban entertainment, and to bully fans into submission. That's just unfairsouleyesplz.png

Well, their country their rules, not right for us outsiders to say anything. They can even ban their own entertainment what makes you think they will bat an eyelash banning foreign entertainment. And china does have a right to feel sensitive on this since their national security is threatened although banning entertainment is of no use lol why can't they just communicate effectively.

But those weibo comments yo they are nasty af they make nate hate comments become childish banter

I thought the netizens, i.e. the educated youths were against the government and communism. Sure, openly stating and protesting against the government would be risky so they obviously don't openly state it but actually hating on Kpop because of THAAD? That's more than being passive...

Well ofc I am or anyone is free to criticize the rules c gov makes, just like how many Cnetz criticizes rules Indian government makes .

We cant do anything about it but we can condemn them.

Until recently my gov was communist as well(marxist) but we students protested and welcomed protests from other countries.

I think the ones who are actually protesting are the older folks, the young are too busy with their lives to care about this bullshit. The korean entertainment hate was always there on weibo just that it blew up recently since everyone became so sensitive. Also, I think the chinese media is exaggerating shit on tv and newspapers so the folks are kinda misinformed.

Unfortunately many are young and especially the Cnetz protesting on Weibo are mostly below 30s, like I have talked to some of them on the Bar for a couple of years now, many have even unstanned.

Well, Korean artists are loosing followers too through Weibo and even Baidu bar. While some are still supporting Korean entertainment quietly, some are being patriotic and stick with the ban while cursing every fans and celebrities.

This. And some of them happen to be people I talk for a long time so friends basically like how I have friends in OH . And now the same kids are dissing me, its sad.

If sanctions is commonplace for Europe, USA and Nato, so why everyone blames only China? Nobody wants a missiles near at their borders, especially from a country that has already attacked and destroyed other countries. Who can blame them to defend its national interests?

Right? I'm just glad most of my mutuals living in China are still supporting our bias and being in the fandom. Some of them even took the liberty to spend more money to go to their concerts in other country after the ban

Well

This thread is clearly about the bashing and bullying going on in Weibo but since you asked......

China supporting NK has got to do with many people hating it not to mention their control of the steel market and border disputes with India, and their stance on SEA.

In short, they have done really shady stuff and ofc their communist gov which many sees as a threat to democracies of other nations.

Its not too difficult to understand really why people are suspicious about China

Read the article I posted yesterday in Lay's thread about him not participating in EXO's concert in America. The U.S. publicly said China supported North Korea and said it would permanent station Grey Eagles drones across North Korea border in addition to Thaad.

China wants the status quos but can't control North Korea's behaviors but punishes S. Korea to protect their country.

The real reason for all this is the cold war between China vs U.S. China does not want the U.S.' presence in the region but can't punishes the U.S. because its economy depends a lot on the U.S. so takes it out its enemy's allies instead. Wonder Japan ban is next since Japan supports this as well since North Korean Korea sent misle and landed in the Japanese water.

China buys products from NK cause it's cheaper, they're not concerned with their internal politics. The USA and the world buy/used to buy things from China without worrying with the dictatorship installed in the country cause the products are/were cheaper. Basically, China is up for business.   Chinese market has showed to be an important market for movies, make-up and clothes from Western.

In the past there were also USA x Cuba - during many years the USA government was cautious of Cuba and there were also restrictions.

I've read many articles on CNN and Variety magazine, I'm not an expert to discuss this ban, but based in what I've seen so far: China is helping a lot the box office of many Hollywood movies, there are lots of partnerships btw Chinese movie companies and Hollywood studios going on;  and by closing the market for South Korea entertainment, China is making stronger their own entertainment market.

China and Japan were opened to let South Korean idols to attend their variety shows, but the opposite never happened. I've never seen Chinese stars in S.Korean Tv shows, and the only Chineses who attended the shows were associated with S.Korean companies.

Chinese government is wrong about many things, but they are right to be afraid of the USA being spying them. Two years ago, there were some news of American government being spying the government of my country, and the reaction here was pretty bad, from the government to the general public, everybody showed disatisfection, so I imagined how they may feel.
