I found a nice analysis of the drama so far smile.png

It breaks down the car scene quite well

Assuming that everyone has watched the first two episodes ;)

I watched the first two episodes of My Secret Romance back-to-back…and I love it!!!It’s amazing what great chemistry can make up for and I’ll share four moments in the hasty-but-sexy tumble-in-the-car scene that won my heart instantly. The drama is refreshingly unpolished, cheesy but well-done cheesy, peppered with lovely, swoony moments of sincerity and vulnerablility. Even a little slapstick humour can’t and won’t deter me from this cute, charming little gem. Sung Hoon I always never minded, but I really like Song Ji Eun. There’s a sweet, spunky, relatable warmth to her that reminds me of Kim Ji Won. I find her watchable and she has an effortless, easy rapport with Sung Hoon. I like this newbie gal. Check this drama out if you are yearning for somethin’ fluffy yet enjoyable.

Before I go on about what I absolutely adored about the car scene, I would like to say I already like the two lead characters : Jin Wook and Yoo Mi. Jin Wook isn’t your predictable standard, uncaring asshole chaebol heir who forces his way with the female lead. Yoo Mi isn’t your usual annoying, starched Candy Girl who jumps a mile into the sky and gets affronted by the tiniest of touch by the male lead. The OTP is spontaneous, wonderfully hot-blooded and plain likeable. Both have touchy parental issues, but there is a unfiltered openess about the way they interact that I really appreciate.

So the OTP meet under cheesy circumstances and comical disaster strikes each time they meet. Somehow, they end up stranded on the beach with a bottle of wine and a really convenient convertible. Car is out of gas so they can’t head back. Yoo Mi grumpily muses nothing ever goes right for her no matter how hard she tries and confesses she was bizarrely touched and even cried when Jin Wook asked whether she was all right. Jin Wook, on the other hand, is fascinated by her artless honesty and admits that it isn’t the first time he has made a girl cry, but it is the first time he has asked a girl whether she was all right. Also, it is the first time he has thought a total stranger pretty before.

Rattled by his directness and growing interest in her, Yoo Mi tries to escape and slips. Jin Wook catches her in time and swoops in to kiss her with a knowing grin… AND this is where I really love the PD and writer. The sprinkling fairy dust of emotional connection and unpractised spontaneity is precious between the characters. And makes the scene so much more enjoyable and stirring.

Moment #1

Yoo Mi shoves Jin Wook away and he is stunned by her rejection – I’m guessing he has never been rejected by a female before. Insecurity flares and he gazes at Yoo Mi with a dash of vulnerability [lovely acting by Sung Hoon here]… but Yoo Mi makes up her mind on the spot to go with the flow, grabs his coat, and pulls him in… and Jin Wook takes charge immediately, diving in to kiss her. GAH.

msr1_3-e1492539176722.png?w=620&h=320

Moment #2

Jin Wook smothers Yoo Mi with kisses and tosses away his overcoat. It hits Yoo Mi what is coming next and she halts again, undecided. Jin Wook stops immediately and I LOVE how he stares at her, urgent and beseeching, but obviously waiting for her permission to go ahead. I sincerely believe he would have stopped altogether if she had wanted to. That pregnant pause of unguarded indecision was utterly sweet, and Yoo Mi finally nods dazedly, but again, she has made up her mind to follow through. Jin Wook heaves a sigh of relief – so cute! – and resumes heatedly and while Yoo Mi is untutored, she more than makes up for it with her guileless enthusiasm. Her reaction is so believable and plausible.

msr1_6-e1492539229668.png?w=620&h=331

Moment #3

Jin Wook struggles to shed his shirt and Yoo Mi takes it as her cue to start undressing too, shrugging out of her jacket hastily, a little bewildered but determined to keep the momentum. Oh man, I was laughing yet I saluted her for being quick on the uptake and not shying away. I mean this must be the first time I have seen a female lead as proactive as the male lead, but in a really adorable manner. Jin Wook yanks her jacket off and Yoo Mi is genuinely amazed how much Jin Wook seems to want her. He fumbles with his shirt, and Yoo Mi, bless her practical soul, helps him to pop the buttons. I love these unwarranted, spontaneous little touches. I think Song Ji Eun was bashfully wonderful here – I could sense Yoo Mi’s anxiety but excitement at once at what lay ahead.

msr1_7-e1492539246603.png?w=620&h=331

Moment #4

Jin Wook is practically straining to keep his self-control in check as they feverishly make out. He starts to unbutton Yoo Mi’s shirt and this is when shrewd, thoughtful directing kicks in. The way Jin Wook gently unbuttons Yoo Mi’s shirt despite his urgency is totally opposite of the way he earlier rips off his own. I love the contrast and the underlying nuances of it. He hits the button to close up the hood of the car and in a pure gift of fan-service swoon, Jin Wook lifts Yoo Mi and rolls over so that she ends up being on top of him. Again, I sighed at how he tenderly brushes back her hair back and cups her nape. They break apart at that and damn the raw, super sweet charged moment between Sung Hoon and Song Ji Eun. I don’t know they did it but I LOVE it to bits. And the scene fades away as we see Sung Hoon’s back muscles bunching up while holding Song Ji Eun… and the hood slides close.

msr1_8-e1492539262816.png?w=620&h=332

msr1_9-e1492539280970.png?w=620&h=325

msr1_10-e1492539315281.png?w=620&h=322

msr1_12-e1492539355823.png?w=620&h=329

I LOVE IT. I love how tastefully the scene was done, with the right amount of ardour expected. There was a lot of fumbling around but it felt realistic yet delivered the heat and swoon. Sung Hoon and Song Ji Eun were just perfect, banking on their natural chemistry to keep the scene sincere and steamy. Sung Hoon can kiss, all right. That roll-over move was executed with faultless precision.

So the story goes on. Yoo Mi sneaks away the morning after, leaving a bunch of nosey ajummahs to misinterpet that she ran away because Jin Wook wasn’t well-endowed enough down there. HAHAHAHAHAHA. And it is the humiliation of this that Jin Wook carries with him for the next three years. Hehehe. The two meet againn when she gets a job at his company as a nutritionist, and is unwittingly put in charge of preparing his meals. Jin Wook finds out who she is before she does and decides to dish out payback by throwing out all her meals. And… he finally reveals himself to her at the end of Episode 2.

The drama has definitely hooked me in all the right places. Casting is spot on, and since I already expected the drama to be cheesy, I found myself more invested in whether the couple could generate enough rapport to convince me that their one-night stand was significant to both of them. They convinced me so here I am. Gushing and raving.

Thank you, OCN.

This break down of that scene points out everything that I loved about that scene. It's quite refreshing to see all those elements in kdrama world. Just seeing it all in episode 1 made it all the more unexpected.

That was adorable ahmagahplz.png

One Hallyu keeps going down and I couldn't even make a review yesterday unsure.png

So, I will just leave some comments now before it goes down again, and hopefully I can make another review later when I watch episode 4.

I loved the episode! There is something great about Yumi and Jin Wook's chemistry that makes all their scenes really entertaing. I was surprised when she lost her temper with him, but I loved it, shows that she can standing up to herself and also shows that he cares about her enough to change right away. Actually, all his efforts to get her attention were adorable, even though he is a bit over the top sometimes, I can't help but like his childish ways.

As for our female second lead (who is gorgeous, but a total brat laugh.png ), I don't like her that much, but I do like how she affects the main couple's, she will end up helping them to get together, even if she is not aware of it imstupid.png

I don't see a love triangle actually happening anytime soon, Yumi's friend just doesn't seem like proper competion to JW, I like him just fine, but I don't feel like he can act as a love rival. Maybe he could get together with that cute girl from the kitchen staff, or something.

I do fell bad about Yumi and her mother, they have quite a difficult relationship. I saw some people going over about how Yumi should just "grow up" and be proud and confident like her mom, but I think it's a lot more complicated than that. Yumi went though a lot because of her mom, of couse I don't want to judge the woman badly because it was just her job, but doesn't change the fact that it made her daughter suffer for years (we just saw two small scenes, but I can imagine all sort of bad stuff happening to a kid in her position) and she doesn't seem to care at all about how her actions affect Yumi even now, I mean, didn't she just burst into Yumi's house with a child out of nowhere apparently only because she was bored living by the sea? idontthinksobetchplz.png

Anyway, I hope they can make up eventually. I also hope that we learn about her dad soon, same goes for Jin Wook's mom.

I loved the fact that JW had no chill in using all the little reminders of what happened 3 years ago and how the second lead is really just going to be speeding things along for the main couple.

I also love the sassy cook, she's always a little bit extra but just right, similar to Emily Blunt's character TDWP.

I'm looking forward to going home to watch ep. 4. I hope JW meets the brother and thinks it's his lol.

is this really good? im nervous lol

it's started off well, so I hope it finishes things off well. The fact that it's 12 episodes gives me hope that it will. It has loads of cliches and cheesy plot lines, but there are imo done well. The chemistry between the two leads is also really good, you can't ask for much from them.

Just watched episode 4.

Oh my god, their convo in the end of the episode was so hilarious laugh.png
His reaction to her food was super adorable, deep down he just wants her to care about him.
After today's episode I don't think there will be any doubts regarding the kid being Yumi's son, afterall Yumi doesn't act like a mom at all, more like a clumsy sister -- wich is what she actually is.
The episode went by so fast that I barely noticed it, was a great one.

I haven't watched it yet, but it sounds like their relationship is going to continue being the oposite of "senpai notice me"

I believe it ends next monday, since we won't have subs until then.

I watched episodes 10 and 11, here is my short review:

First of all, I'm damn annoyed at the incredibly amount ot flashbacks we had in these couple episodes. Come on, we only had 3 episodes left and they could have used the time better.
Now about the plot: I knew it was going to be sad, but it was just so depressing. I guess I was more upset about the fact that Yumi is being treated just like she was when she was bullied at the school and Jin Wook didn't really stand up for her. I can't blame her for leaving, I don't blame JW for it neither, but I'm still a bit mad at him.
But once again, the one at fault is MH. Seriously, can't this women get a grip?! She is constantly ruining her own daughters life and she doesn't even sem to realize it. She's way too much of an egocentric, so desperated to get her 5 minutes of fame that she didn't even think twice before exposing YM. Honelty, at this point, I think YM is better off staying away of her, MH won't ever change.
As for HR, I thought she would be the one making me mad, but I only pity her, even though she still owns YM some serious apologies, I think she is finally evolving and getting over her obsession. Perhaps HT and HR can find some consolation and happiness in each other.
We only have one episode to go (since I believe episode 13 won't really show anything important, only BTS and NG's) and I'm kind worried we won't be able to see JW and YM as a happy married couple. What a shame, I always thought we would see at least one epilogue about them living together, maybe even see ther children, but I guess we won't unsure.png

You saved me the bother of putting my thoughts into words. Are they stretching out their material to create an extra episode? The drama has started to drag a lot since the skipped episode due to the election.

HR is really going on me now, probably one of the best drunk characters in k-drama land.

And here I'm for my last review. Can't believe just a couple of weeks ago we were so hyped waiting for this drama and now it has come to an end :rlytearpls:

I'm pretty sure the drama was supposed to have only 12 episodes, but they had to make it 13, that explains why so many flashbacks. But well, I'm not here to complain today LOL

I'm very satisfied with the way they wraped everything. I could've been mad at YM for running away again, but it was for a good reason: to finally make MH act like a mom and also give JW the opportunity to meet his mom (I wish we could have seen a bit more of the past, so we could understand better how/why his mom went away). Watching MH take care of her daughter, go on TV to protect and encourage her, was a very unexpected but welcome surprise. Of course she won't change that much, but now she seems to realize how much her actions affect YM and she is willing to protect her.

I'm very proud of YM for going after him and be brave enough to be with him. JW deservs all the love she can give him, he didn't hesitate for a moment, even leaving his car on the streets so he could meet the girl he loves. Our OTP reunion was so beautiful, the way they looked at each and she run to him, and then the kiss :lub:

Though out the series I've liked and disliked the second leads, but now I'm glad HT and HR will have their own little happy ending, I can imagine they having a lot of fun drinking and traveling everywhere

The "sexy couple", Secretary Jang and the cooker, are my favorite couple after JW/YM. They so much fun, I loved all their small scenes.

I was expecting a wedding for our main couple, and saw many people upset we didn't get one, but I think we did? Lol. It was confusing, but that whole scene of him walking to meet her and their conversation afterwards ("I'm your man now!") makes me think they indeed got married, a low key marriage seems like something YM would want. And even if they didn't get married, they were so happy and adorable together :ahmagah:

I'm really glad I decided to watch MSR and so happy it was worth my time. I will miss seeing our OTP, not only on screen but also in the adorable BTS. I hope SH and JE, as well the rest os the cast, can get some good new projects in the future, and I also hope Godin Media will continue producing great light hearted dramas.

I'd like to thank all the friends here, you all made the whole experience a lot better, especially our OP who always did the best to keep the thread updated. I hope I can meet you in other thread so we can spazz again :chu:

PS: SH and JE will have a fan meeting for oksusu next month, so perhaps I will be back soon

I'll miss reading your views on the lastest episods. Maybe I'll bump into again with other dramas. Edited by silverlining
