Teen decapitated mother because he 'felt like it'

A man accused of decapitating his mother told authorities that he stabbed her numerous times because he "felt like it," according to newly released court documents.

The suspect told a 911 dispatcher that he stabbed his mother eight times and left the knife in her mouth, according to a copy of the search warrant filed on Tuesday afternoon with the court clerk.

Asked why he killed her, he told the dispatcher "because I felt like it," according to the court document. When asked whether he had checked to see if his mother was still breathing, he responded: "She's dead."

He also told the dispatcher his 4-year-old sister and 2-year-old brother were in the house in Zebulon, and his father was elsewhere. Authorities say the younger children were not hurt, and a teenage brother was at school.

The first deputy on the scene saw the suspect leave the house "carrying a knife in one hand and a severed human head in the other," the court documents state. The warrants say a large, bloody kitchen knife and the mother's head were collected from the front yard by investigators.

The exact spelling of the suspect's name was unclear. Local court records list him as Oliver Funes Machada; federal records as Oliver Funes Machado. The mother's name, according to local authorities who received the information from a 14-year-old son, is Yesenia Beatriz Funez Machado, 35. The suspect was from Honduras and in the US illegally, said US Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman Bryan Cox.

He was charged on Monday with first-degree murder, according to the arrest warrant. A search warrant indicates the deputies found his mother's body between the kitchen and living room, and that two younger siblings were in the house as well.

District Attorney Mike Waters said officials were seeking a mental evaluation of the suspect, and that his apparent mental issues could delay uncovering a motive for weeks or months. The warrants say he was on four medications for a psychiatric condition, but don't elaborate.

"He's a pretty profoundly disturbed young man," his public defender, attorney C. Boyd Sturges III, said on Tuesday after speaking with him in the jail.

The suspect was being transferred to a prison in Raleigh, and his next court appearance was set for next Tuesday, Waters said.

Neighbor Randy Mullins was leaving his house minutes after the first deputy arrived and he said he saw the woman's head in the front yard. Mullins said the family, who had lived in the home since around June 2016, seemed nice but that he didn't know them well.

"I couldn't believe it. Things like that don't happen," said Mullins, 59, who has lived in the neighborhood for 25 years. "You can't believe somebody would do that. You hear about that, but it never happens across the street from you."

the mother who raised her was at fault for his psychotic behavior

a kid doesn't suddenly wanna behead people out of nowhere

Some people are born with mental disorders that can lead to murder. Some people's families create them. Some people's issues are created by society. unsure.png still not having kids. I don't want to mess them up, I don't want them to be messed up, I don't want to try to fix them if society messes them up unsure.png

Again, it all comes from the parents. ive yet to see a crazy violent person who was raised in a normal/good family

in all cases of violence like this, the kid was extremely mistreated and beaten by the parents

even those born with heavy schizophrenia/bipolarism eventually result to violence IF they went through abuse in childhood

btw im not trying to convince you to have kids or smth just saying if your kids kill you its ur fault

Wow, no, there is so much wrong with what you said. Some people can be raised in perfectly nice families and do messed up stuff. Some people can be abused by their family and be perfectly nice people. There's a reason why people are different and have different reactions to different situations. Each person is inherently made differently.

well i disagree with you and im not just pulling that out of my ass, im majoring in psychology and ive got to talk to some really well known people in this field that have won awards.

I didnt say all people who have a bad family are inherently bad, and again it depends what you mean by ''nice family'' , definitions vary , Some people can be raised in a rich family that funded all their life and sent them to the best schools and still end up psychotic, but that's not my definition of a good family . There were cases here were a perfectly good and ''normal '' kid did something violent, but if i hadn't known the kid personally i would have believed it, because we dont know what goes on behind the scenes

I honestly think the school of biology/evolutionary in psychology, which believes we have pretty much 0 control over ourselves and it all comes from genes and ancestors, is just using it as an excuse to avoid responsibility. ill keep believing it until i see some really good evidence stating otherwise. An article link isnt enough cause i can just reply with one that says otherwise.  Kids dont behead people only because they were born with something wrong in their chromosomes

A lot of mental illnesses are thought to be caused by a combination of social, environmental, cognitive and genetic factors. Often people have the genetics for a disease which is then activated by a stressful situations (which can be abuse by parent but is not limited to that). There are lots of cases for Schizophrenia and Bipolarism where abusive parents were not in question (an example is John Nash who is thought to have developed his though the stress of grad school). Also to lump Schizophrenia and Bipolar is really mmm, even if we are just discussing causation. The former is just a tricky disorder in general (and is thought by many to be the most extreme of mental disorders) and Bipolar is in a different sector from it. If we are going to talk abuse, DIDs are way more often associated with heavy abuse.

well i agree with you, im not saying that people arent born with bipolarism or schizophrenia, what im saying is someone wont go around murdering people uniquely because of the genes he has

there's a youtube channel called seriously strange which goes into in depth analysis of the top 50 most notorious serial killers of all time. 50 very well detailed case studies, and 50/50 of them went through horrific things as a child.

So you just came to that conclusion without knowing anything about the families?........imstupid.png

I mean if you're studying psychology then you would know better than to diagnose without infos.

well im not saying it was only the family (or the lack thereof), but it definitely played a key role, it always, always does

again, i know 100% for a fact he didnt do this uniquely and solely because of his genes

genes dont make a killer

I agree as well that most SKs do come from abusive homes and that abusive families are definitely one of the biggest risk factor in developing a mental disorder of this nature. I'm just saying that putting blame on his mom so quickly with such limited information is just way hasty of a move. But anyways, since you seem very firm in your belief, I'm just going to move on lol.
